Rapid Evolution 2

Rapid Evolution 2

So I’ve been looking for a key detecting software, I’ve used Mixed in Key before but don’t have the funds right now for that, or else I would because it’s far superior.

So…I downloaded Rapid Evolution 2 and it crashed my mac. MY MAC! I tried to key 9 songs at once, something I thought would not be very hard, and everything froze up and ‘quit unexpectedly’ then I couldn’t open up any other programs and couldn’t shut down. I had to hard shut down to do anything.

What are the settings I should use? CPU usage, and the speed vs. accuracy settings?

Thanks for all input,

JSanch :disappointed:

RE has some serious issues at times. It used to bug out on my PC and so I deleted it.

Some people have luck with it though, I found it to be more trouble than it’s worth.

Thanks BigC

its been hit and miss for me over time too, but when it works it works great. i think the problem lies more tho in badly encoded files rather the the software being poorly coded.

Same thing happened on my mac JSanch. Froze up the first time I tried it. I tried to get it to work a couple times and said screw it and deleted it. Was worth a try tho.
I see you’re from Denver, I live up in FoCo for school but am moving back to Denver thursday for summer

Have you tried Trainspotter? I’ll gladly give you hand setting it up if you need any help.

Thanks for all the help, I’ve seemed to get RE running at the moment. It was just the one time it crashed my mac. I’ve been getting decent results from it, so I guess that’s that.

I have used several versions of RE, in the end I gave up.
It just didnt suit my workflow and had too many niggles setting it up.
Have moved to Trainspotter and couldnt be happier.
It does everything I need and lots of stuff I havnt figured out yet.

I run RE2…on a Macbook…no issues.

Used it again last night.

Its pretty simple…dunno what the fuss is about.

  1. add your trax
  2. click options and set it to the tags you want. (ie. Key Code etc and make sure it suing the correct Tag thing)
  3. Highlight all the trax you added, right click, DETECT ALL (or just the Keycode).

It takes some time…but once its done, you right click again (while all the trax are highlighted) and click on Tags-> Write.

Bob’s your Aunty!

I did a batch of 143 last night without issue.

Hope that helps!

Adrian

The problem I have with it on my macbook pro is that it just freezes every time I try to import songs. I can’t figure out why

Have you tried reinstalling the App?

Maybe try another version?

Is your Mac updated etc?

Have you tried dragging and dropping the files instead of importing it?

Are the trax on your local drive when you import?
Or on an external?

How do I get RE to write tags for Traktor? I tried just simply using the ‘write tags’ option, but it comes back saying 0 of 9 tags written or whatever.

in options…under Tags i think it is…you need to choose the tags you wish to be written.

So test with a single track.

  1. Load it up (drag and drop)
  2. click options and set the options (also choose the JD3 or something like that Tag format)
  3. Right click on the track and choose detect all …or detect Key. When its done it will display the key and BPM
  4. when its done…right click and choose TAG → write.

RE is arguably more accurate than anything on the market at the moment, but its marginal compared to MiK. MiK is also faster by a considerable margin. So its half of one and half of another

The stability issues of RE can mostly be cured by setting the right amount of virtual memory for java.

Thanks Sarasin,

I’ll try your method, all I want is the keycode to show up in Traktor under key or even in the song title.

On the RE:Wiki there was some stuff about tags not being compatible with Traktor and I thought that was the issue. But thanks for the help.:sunglasses:

it works 100% for me dude.

There are a few settings you need to be aware of.

Like…chose keyCODE…not just Key.
