Reading/Learning how to do Progressive House melodys?

I’ve been getting deep into production lately learning all the features of FL first by remaking a few dozen tracks then making my own with a very basic melodys.

My target style is something of Avicii mixed with SHM and elements of similiar artists

Good melody made into a big sound

Im no keyboard player and my only real way to make a melody thats better than what i have is spend the day wacking at my keyboard till i get something close to what i want, but it still does’nt sound right and i can’t get it to work out it just sounds wrong and im not making anything good.

i think its time to get some books but im not really sure what im trying to learn, chord progressions, melodys? just the basics thats going to give me knowledge to make some good progressions i have ideas on how i want them to go but when i go lower down the keyboards to make the sound fuller it just sounds more hard and thuddy rather than full and progressive.

learn the difference between minor and major chords, the different types of chords, how to structure chords, etc

some basic help would be start in C major.
your notes are

c d e f g a b c (all white keys)

now play these at the same time

c e g

thats a c major chord
now play

c eflat g (black key in between d and e)

thats minor

figure out how to get those two same sounds, no matter what note you use as the root (c in my examples)

for example,
play these after another

Left Hand Right hand
C ----- c e g
G ----- g b d
A ----- a c e
F ----- f a b
then repeat

that is a common chord progression used in lots of pop songs

also a good tip is most prog house is in minor keys, but dissimilarly is aviciis stuff, which is lots in major

additionally, look at some tutorials on utube for piano. look at ones for songs you know and learn from there (shm songs, avicii, stuff like that)

hope that helps or at least points you in the right direction
cheers
