Reliable MIDI - USB Cables

Reliable MIDI - USB Cables

I tried searching the forum but I didn’t find any posts specifically reviewing USB-MIDI cables.

I’m looking to use Traktor’s MIDI Clock to send a signal from Traktor on my PC out via my S4 into a Macbook Air running Resolume.

As far as I understand, all I would need is the singly midi to USB cord, why are most of them these Y-Cables?

It’s a Y cable for MIDI IN & MIDI OUT. MIDI is only capable of sending information 1 way.

I have a Roland UM-One that I use that takes the MIDI clock from the DJM900 in the club and into my macbook to sync visuals to

Ah well I only need MIDI OUT, although I suppose it won’t matter having the extra MIDI IN. But what I do need is the cord to be relatively long, at least 10-12 feet, that is reliable. No one has any experience with a good brand of these cables??

i have no idea which brand i bought. I just have a 25 foot MIDI cable. check monoprice.com

One of my interfaces is the cheapest, nastiest looking thing I got shipped to me on eBay directly from China and it has still never let me down. I use it for controlling soft synths on my iPad. I don’t use it in a live environment though.

i bought a cheap one from ebay ($8) and it also came directly from china. Ive been playing out with it for the past 3 months and it been rock solid i use to sync up my buddys traktor clock.

I got one of these and it works a treat.

@dstep do you have a model number or link I could check out?

Get one on eBay for next to nothing:

I bought the M-audio Uno, always liked the brand and i think they have fair prices for their product, I bought mine here in Portugal from http://www.clickplus.pt/p55761. Probably you can find this pretty much everywhere they sell M-Audio I would say.

Best of luck finding the cable you need

I bought the Uno before too, but it’s not supported for newer versions of OSX, so i switched to the UM-One from Roland

I didn’t know that, kinda sucks..
