Roland Dj202 Mapping

Roland Dj202 Mapping

I’ve bought a DJ202 and I’m trying to map it to Traktor, really not a fan of Serato, I’ve got a full license for Traktor and so I’m looking for a bit of help, namely how to map the jogwheels correctly and the FX buttons, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dean.

Try mapping following commands:

Add In > Deck Common > Jog Touch
Add In > Deck Common > Jog Turn

Add In > FX Unit > Button 1,2,3

It should be fairly easy, let me know if you need more help with this.

Hi Stewe,

Many thanks for this mate you’re an absolute star, I’ll get on this soon as I get in and I’ll let you know, thanks again mate

Dean

You are welcome.

Roland Dj 202 Midi Mapping

Hi!

I try to map the Roland DJ 202 for Traktor. I have an issue with the jog wheel. Stewe, I followed your procedure for the jog (Add In > Deck Common > Jog Turn).
Well it works but when i turn the jogwheel either way the pitch goes only up. Of course I d’like the pitch to go down when turning counter clockwise.
For info I am a total beginner DJ.
I would apreciate any help.
Cheers.
Gilles

My guess is that you’re using incorrect Encoder Mode. There are only two modes though (3Fh and 7F) try them both one should work for your jog encoder.

Hi Stewe!

Thanks for your very quick answer and help.
Unfortunatly I tried the 3fh/41h encoder mode as you advise but the problem remains the same. Just one thing change ; the pitch bend goes down both if I turn the jog clockwise or counter-clockwise(instead of up with the other encoder mode). I’m wondering if this controller is finally only desing for Serato. Well it seems very difficult to map it in Trakor apparently.

Hi Gilles,
Can you please post a screencapture of how all the settings for the jog turn command looks like?

Morning!
Yes it’s in attachment to this post.

Morning Gilles,

The sereencapture provided is tiny but as it seems to me you are using the pitchband message?
If that’s so, change the type of controller to “Fader/Knob” and set interaction mode to “relative”. That should work

Morning Stewe,

Apologies for the poor qualitiy of the screencapture, i know i did it with the tool capture from windows it’s a bad qualitiy.
But to tell u the truth it is set to relative already.
I tell u my friend this mapping is a hell :smiley:

Interaction is set to “Relative” I can already see that. What is not correctly set is actual ‘Type Of The Controller’ which you’ll have to change from "Encoder in to the “Fader/Knob”…

As for screen capturing I usually hit a “Print Screen” button on the keyboard and then paste the capture in to Paint and than save.

Oh ok I see… i changed it to Fader/Knob but no change.. even worth if i may say. It freezes the pitch almost :expressionless:

Another screen grab?

Ok.

Hmmm.. Are you sure that you’re mapping a jog? I never seen a jog that sends Pitchbend message. It usually refers tempo faders (pichbends) so that is why I ask.

Well yes i think so. in the manager controller I choose : add on > jog turn

Hey, I am asking you which control you’re trying to map on your hardware jog or pitchbend (tempo fader)?

I can already see that you are using jog turn in the Controller Manager…

Hi Stewe,

Sorry yes the jog Wheel of course. I did :
Add on
Jog turn
Press learn
Turn the jog..Then the ch01.PitchBend appaers
Encoder
Relative..then the rotary sensitivity & acc..
So i dont see what i am doing wrong actually.
Regards.
