First of all, thank you for all your advice on hosting a foam party. Overall it was a huge success and I have a little write up at the bottom for anyone who wants to throw his or her own in the future. Also, here is a routine I recorded at the party along with a remix set I used, hope you enjoy
Routine:
Warning: trap
Remix Deck:
Here is the remix deck I used in this routine and usually use in my sets. It contains mostly 1 shots of cool sounds and vocals I’ve found in different songs. I found it to be a fairly effective tool in spicing up my sets have fun with it! Note: Its designed mostly for stuff between the 120-150ish range.
The party it self went incredibly well. We sold out the venue and everyone who went seemed to really enjoy themselves. I didn’t really hear a single piece of a negative feedback. Along with that, we brought in some DJs from Winnipeg as well which was cool. Another plus side was that we were able to play electronic music all night which is almost unheard of in our city
Now for the downsides:
a) We had a tonne of our money stolen >.< I’m usually incredibly careful with handling ticket money, however some poor organization/carelessness on the entire crews part lead to large chunk of our money being stolen, which SUCKED.
b) If you saw the video, you probably noticed that the foam effect wasn’t as prominent as it probably should have been. For anyone thinking of doing one: buy an excessive amount of machines and use concentrated solutions!! When we ran our machines in the empty venue it seemed perfectly fine (we were actually afraid that we would have too much foam). However once the place filled up people, the foam quickly dissipated. Also, I didn’t realize how much water these things put out. Everyone was soaked and it was the middle of a Canadian winter! Again, people had a lot of fun (as you can tell from the vid) but if I could go back: more foam machines and the throwing of this party during the warmer season would definitely be in order.
Anyways, thanks for all your help, I hope enjoyed the routine + remix set!
Amazing. The video is incredible, great sounding routine and it looks super professional.
Sorry about the money but happy to hear that everyone had a good time.
The 900 was a love/hate thing for me. My s4 broke back in december and i needed an immediate replacement. The second I bought this, I started missing the functionality of the s4. The s4 is just ingeniously laid out in my opinion. I mapped all my vital controller functions to the midifighter, and am slowly getting used to it. That being said,I’m overall a much better DJ now. I’ve had turntables for a while but I never used them when I had the s4. The move to mixer forced me to start playing with them more and I definitely stepped my game up. I love the 900 but if your in the market for a new mixer, give the z2 a serious look as well!
Eh you know , its the least I could do ! Ya know , with that money I saved on the midi fighter classic sale i could buy me self a cup of timmies ! Or maybe a new saddle for me polar bear ya know?
I guess thats all that matters at the end of the day. the speed at which people were ripping through the foam scared me a bit for sure though. i thought they’d be ticked that there wasn’t enough foam, i didn’t hear any complaints though
