Hi all I am trying to use my S4 in ableton. I want to try “smart mixing” but the only controller I currently own is the S4. [ame=“http://www.flickr.com/photos/33868898@N06/5432317493/”]traktor | Flickr - Photo Sharing!@@AMEPARAM@@http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5176/5432317493_0223d39668_m.jpg@@AMEPARAM@@5432317493@@AMEPARAM@@0223d39668[/ame] this is an image of how I have it configured. Ableton isn’t reading my S4 (yellow icon isn’t glowing). I am pretty sure I understand how to map it, go to map mode and select a parameter and then move crossfader/knob/etc..but why isn’t ableton recognizing my S4. I am sure it is a setting issue but I just got ableton today so I’m lost..
thanks for the help…not.. but on a serious note, can anyone help? I tried using korg nanokontroller and am having the same problems. Ableton isn’t even receiving midi messages, traktor is though,
Oh my bad. The only thing I can think of is you need to select a control surface. Try selecting a random control surface and then MIDI mapping some controls. If that works and you can wait until tomorrow evening, I can make a custom blank control surface script for you.
okay cool sounds good, not sure what a custom blank control surface script is but i’ll figure it out. Basically, I went to midi map mode (or something liike that ctrl+m), selected a parameter moved the controller knobs and…nothing. also, that little yellow box isn’t lighting up when I move anything on my controller. Thanks a lot for the help, I just started messing around with ableton…so much different than traktor haha
