saving ableton racks

saving ableton racks

If, for example I have a MIDI track loaded up with a VST followed by an EQ Eight, a reverb an overdrive then a compressor then a limiter is is possible to save this entire rack as a preset so I can just drag it in to any new MIDI track in a new project? I know it is possible to save the individual presets for each unit in the rack but I don’t know how to save the whole rack.

Cheers

If you right click on the rack whilst in ableton you’ll get a show in folder option, click this and then right click on the file browser file and show in finder… I normally then make a duplicate of it and save it to my own folder for finding it easily in the future…

Thanks!

If i have a rack which i like i “drag&drop” the rack into a folder (i have a special for my stuff).
It is than save at it is. I only have to rename it when i forget.

Room for improvement there, I think. If you’re anything like me, you record 35 samples for one tiny noise you want to use in your instrument, then try to pick the best one but change your decision 17 times. And that for every single sample. When you finally end up with a sound you like, you just want to capture and save it, Ableton-style.
