he’s right.
this vid is 2 months old and covered already.
What in the name of God is that tit talking about? Dance music was “underground” and “not accepted from the mid 80’s till now”
Where? In his own mind maybe.
In the UK dance music hit a MASSIVE peak in the late 90’s it was the ONLY music played in bib clubs and high street clubs. It was HUGE through the 90’s. The big new Indie scene took over for some time but dance music has recovered with chart dance and all that Avicii stuff.
…and the more underground (if you like) ‘dance music scene’ has never gone away at all. It changes and various genres come and go but it’s always there.
Some of the worst crap I hear about music is spoken by ‘famous’ DJ’s (i don’t know that guy too much).
As for his views on Avicii… meh… I play a high street club on Fridays and Avicii fills the floor so I couldn’t give a rats what he thinks really.
Sounds like he was trippin’ when he was interviewed.
DJs like Seth do worlds more than press play and jump… He’s right on the money.
And he’s from Detroit, moved to Berlin after high school.. Doubt he’d be talking about the UK.
Deciphered and translated: He just really really wants to be Avicii’s boyfriend.
It’s possible with an outfit like that
Agree with Karl. This guy is an idiot.
I don’t listen to Avicii, but how exactly is he the bad guy? What did he do that was so wrong? He produced some extremely popular dance music that apparently lots of people enjoy. That takes skills, regardless of his DJ abilities. Seems like the hipster thing to do is pick a popular DJ and and blame him for everything you think is “wrong” with the current state of music. They are easy targets, but this shit is getting old.
and that reps him how?
Just throwing it out there
“just sayin”
“so after six years away…” so he left a scene?..came back? and wants to speak with authority on it’s current state?..Shut up…No wonder DJ Sneak called him out earlier this year…Go back to your failed indie rock band…
Wow..i agree with Karlos…where’s Mighty FV?..i need to agree with him now…(although i have more often recently…weird…)
You are mellowing with age!!?? ![]()
He’s clearly talking about this from an American perspective. House music always has been “shunned” by the American market/media until recently. And I’m guessing when he said that he’s been away for the the past 6 years he’s talking about when he left the US to live abroad.
And I know he called out Avicii by name, but I think he’s taking aim at that whole “producer who doesn’t know how to DJ” scene. The guy who show’s up with a predetermined set list and doesn’t know how to be fluid and flexible.
And yeah, he was voted #1 DJ this year according to RA, but the unique thing about that is if you look at his discography he really didn’t have any tracks worthy of mention that were chart toppers, he did through straight gigging and being an actual DJ
So he needed to move to Europe/Berlin to get known…and then takes a pot shot at Avicii…yeah…right…![]()
I think he’s talking about the US… As for his views on Avicii, I would have been shocked if he liked him, considering the sound of Troxler’s sets. He is entitled to have his opinion, whether Avicii fills dancefloors or not.
I’m right here baby, always watching, and I would just like to say I’m sorry if my views sometimes seem aggressive or not in line with what you feel on subjects, it’s all just chat, we’re all music fans just stating our own opinion on subjects and topics put in front of us…anywayyyyyy…
I’m with Karlos and you on this, far too often ‘famous’ DJs open their mouths, usually from frustration of seeing people gaining more success, money and fame than them, and try to say something ‘real’ that will make themselves feel good or their fanbase shout ‘yeah Seth, you so underground baby, you so right’ - this kid has been away from the game for years and now wants to come back and be relevant by bringing one of the most successful dance music artists of the last 5 years into his interviews.
The way I have lived is; you don’t like something; f***ing do something about it.
Don’t whine like a little girl.
Don’t talk about how things are wrong.
Don’t cry about how the game used to be so much better ‘back in the day’.
Don’t wear cowboy hats in interviews that you want to be seen as serious in whilst burping up chips and a frosty drink.
he seems to have struck some kind of nerve, if people are getting worked up over it. mission accomplished.
