Should I limit Macbook Pro use only to DJing/Producing?

Is there any value to restricting my macbook pro usage to only DJing and producing - ie Serato and Ableton?

I’m considering installing Photoshop and Final Cut on it, but does more software installations = increased chance of glitches occuring with Serato/Ableton?

I’ve always thought that if there was less software on the laptop then Serato and Ableton were more likely to be error-free and not crash during a gig. Or is this a stupid notion?

Absolutely not… it’s not Windows :stuck_out_tongue:

I use my MBP for everything (work, photoshop, logic, traktor) it’s never let me down.. a Windows computer wouldn’t either to be honest, as long as you aren’t running something like Photoshop sucking up resources whilst your in the middle of a set.

When you have a gig you really only want to be running essential apps, but other than that, nothing to worry about.

Having the programs installed, won´t slow down your computer. When using PS or FinalCut while jamming on serato and ableton, it might be stressful for the computer.

Just don’t run them all at once.

Ok thanks for the input guys. Much appreciated.

If they aren’t running/open then you’re good. It won’t slow anything down.
