slowdowns with jog wheel

hey wen i use the outer of my jog wheel to slow down a track, it stops being slow as soon as i stop moving the wheel in reverse. better for me would be that the track doesnt return to normal speed until i let go of the wheel. is this changable??

there isn’t a touch sensor on the outer ring, so I don’t think you can do this. The ring doesn’t send a continuous message, it only transmits while it’s moving, but if you wanted to assign the inner wheel to it then you could do it

just keep the wheel moving back and forth slightly once you have reached the desired pitch. Thats the only way I know of doing it..

i guess thatll work well, apart from being a little wavy. but thats all good. cheers

You need to have the right midi translations going on to make this work properly without the wobble, i have been meaning to do this for myself but i have had other midi translation projects on the go. Ill get back to you on this when i get it done.

Hit me up on msn.

Interesting factoid for MIDI junkies: The VCI-100 inner control sends out continuous relative CC messages, the outer ring sends out NoteOn/NoteOff messages from two different keys depending on direction of motion.

In effect, the outer ring works a little like hammering away at a pair of buttons!

Kind of the outer ring is only sending one button press, once for when you start spinning it a direction then again when it stops spinning that direction.
I was proposing making it spurt lots of messages for control of the pitch fader.
