Think Mixxx sucks?

Think Mixxx sucks?

Oh maybe I couldn’t find them. My bad. I just dled it a week ago. I’ll dig around. Are they synced?

Think Mixxx sucks?

Can’t wait till you guys get vertical ssl style waveforms. Might make me switch to mixxx.

You have to hit the “SAMPLER” label in the mixer section to uncover the sample decks.

They aren’t sync’d actually – we’re going to improve the samplers a lot in our next version. The way we normally do development is we get a barebones / infrastructure version of a feature out and then we iterate on it in future releases.

Syncing the samplers means having a master tempo or the concept of a master deck that they should sync to, which we dont have right now. A developer is working on master tempo as we speak so hopefully we will improve the samplers in 1.11.

Is the layout of the interface going to change dependent upon what hardware/settings you have selected?

I’m trying to test this out in my hotel room on the pooters soundcard, and the interface is pretty bare bones compared to what I’m looking at.

BTW the bug report / feature request for this is here: Bug #661442 “Support waveform alignment (top, bottom, middle)” : Bugs : Mixxx

Vote on it if you want it – we use the vote counts to get a sense for what features we should prioritize.

We do all our feature development in the open. You can just look at our bug tracker to see what we’re working on.

For example, here’s the status page for the 1.10 release: 1.10.0 : Mixxx

If you want to check out what is coming in 1.11, just look at our 1.11.0 milestone page on Launchpad: 1.11.0 : Mixxx

Got a crazy idea you’ve always wanted DJ software to have? File a bug / feature request on launchpad and someone just might add it to Mixxx.

This level of feedback and visibility is something you’ll never get with any commercial DJ company because PR means they need to keep the new features under wraps until the epic launch announcement. Heck, if you’re a programmer you can just add the feature you want directly into Mixxx and we’ll release it.

What version are you using? The screenshots I posted are of version 1.10.0 which is in beta and will be released maybe tomorrow.

Some of the 1.10 features are hidden to save screen space. In the center column you’ll see the words “VINYL” “MIC” and “SAMPLERS”. Just click those to show/hide those widgets. To the bottom-right of the deck waveforms, you’ll see some buttons too. Hit the circle to enable the vinyl scratch / signal widgets.

1.9

I’m guessing by your response that I am a poor reader, and all of the sweet sampler decks/fx etc are going to be available in the next release.

You can download the beta from http://mixxx.org/download.php

Just scroll down to the BETA section.

If you want to try out a pre-release version of 1.10 (which has ~30 bugfixes since the beta was released, including a fix for the recording problem on Windows mentioned earlier in this thread) then you can check those out here:

Sweeeet thank you sir!

This is going to be perfect for an install on a netbook pair with the mp3e2 throw in the suitcase so I’m not bored for the month I spend in Vegas at a time for work setup :stuck_out_tongue:

I would love to see good effects in the future. Preferably not restricted to four fx units like in traktor.

I like the idea of “the one” (not yet released) were you are able to route your signal how you like giving pre fader effects as well as post fader…

And also being able to build your interface as you like is a great feature.

I don’t like beeing restricted by the amount of decks, sample slots, fx banks. I never use them all at once for sure. Just think that hardware should be the limiting factor and not the software.

ofcourse such things are possible to solve in traktor with clever mappings which call a preset fx for the given situation… But this use my precious buttons that could have been used for other things.

To sum it up I reckon you need to work on the effects, since that is a dealbreaker to some ppl. I recently went from itch to traktor because of the much better effects.

Just my two cents =)

Cheers and keep up the great work!

After a smooth beta period, we’ve just released 1.10.0 final. We fixed dozens of bugs reported during the beta release and are ready to call it stable.

Check out the release blog post and download it at http://mixxx.org.

Happy holidays,
RJ Ryan

forgot to mention…

after fx, four decks are high on the wishlist for me.

4 decks>fx imo

either way really, I want them both…

and a hi-low pass filter

Ill most def have too give it a DL and try it out. Its open source so ill have to support and report the bugs than i get.

Well, we’re working on both for Mixxx 1.11 .

yay!

Thanks for the Gift !!
