thinking of moving to CDJs

thinking of moving to CDJs

I’m an S4 traktor user but for a fair few reasons am thinking of moving to CDJs/DJM at some point soon when have the funds. Got a couple of questions can’t seem to find answers for yet n hoped you could give advice.

Keylock - is there any equivilant in the cdjs or djms?
Is it only the pioneer 2000s that have hotcues ?

Both the above I like to use in my sets with traktor and am feeling I’ll miss quite them a lot if theres no similar features.

no there are a good bit of cdjs with hot-cues, you’ll just have to do research. Same with keylock, im pretty sure a good bit have it you just have to do your research and find out. Im in the same boat as you, using an S4 and working on switching to CDJ’s

master tempo = keylock

Alternate term for the same thing?

Yes alternate term.

It also sounds a bit cleaner on hardware units over Traktor I’ve found. Traktor’s seems to be a bit picky.

In terms of hot cues, the 2000s and 1000s are the only CDJs with hot cues, but all of them save the 350s (including the new XDJ thing) have 10 memory cues per track, that you can cycle through. Kind of like load markers, and rather useful and flexible. If you use hot cues like a teenager’s broken MPC, a Maschine Mikro or used MPC will probably suit you better.

Thanks so much guys for the info and this is very helpful. These were my main two worries in terms of switching. I’d had a bit of a look on the pioneer site but wasn’t seeing anything, and the 10 memory cues is very good to know about as thats one of my main worries. I don’t really use them for zip-zapping back and forth around a track, more just good places to know where to aim to for the longer dance tracks.

Excellent. Best start saving then
