To Get an S4 or not to get an S4??

Hey everyone i had a few questions I would like answered before I pay 900 dollars Thank you in advance I love this forum so much…

  1. Because the EQ’s are in the software are they as good quality with a analog mixer?
  2. Are the EQ’s complete infinite kills if i turn them all the way to the left does no sound come out or does some audio still bleed?
  3. Because it is an all in one are there heat issues.
  4. I am a two person setup and we are both investing in this we would like to know any thought to what would be good along side the s4 for a two person setup we already have a: kontrol x1, Akai’s MPD24, and a 2 key board.
  5. I would be upgrading from a setup of a crappy numark x6 mixer, a kontrol x1, and a audio 4.
  6. I only have 1100-1200 to use so would it be smart to get this or more intelligent to buy an audio 10 and try to find a 4 chan mixer and a midi- fighter if possible under 1200 or stick with this and buy i midi fighter?

  1. They are good, depends on personal taste and on which mixer are you comparing it to.
  2. Nope, “Classic” gives you the best cut or “Xone” if you are into 4 bands, you. That is a Traktor limitation, not specific to the S4.
  3. Controllers don’t overheat.

  5. Again, personal preference, the S4 is a very nice unit plus you get a full TP2 license. The Midi Fighter is a great addon a S4 setup too.

So I don’t have an s4, but i guess i can answer some of the questiosn anyway.

  1. This can be changed in the software. What I do is a change the sensitivity to be slightly less than the set amount so that it doesn’t completely cut on my VCI-100 (my own mapping), but gets really close to it. That way i turn the nob all the way and it doesn’t quite cut - or you could set it so that it does.

  2. If you get this you could sell the audio 4 and the x6, so you’d get some money back - i’m sure people would still want an a4.

  3. From what i’ve heard, S4’s are amazing - go with that unless you’re really into the other options.
