I’m having the same problem. Its not very frequent, but when I start to alter a lot of effects parameters with my vci (firmware 1.2), it freezes, and when I go to exit gives me the warning “are you sure you want to exit, decks are still playing” although the waveform is clearly stopped, and there is no sound.
I figured it might be a firmware issue with the vci.
a lot of people have had issues with 1.2. Myself included. i kept getting the 31 track bug. i reinstalled 1.1.2 and havent had any problems since. I will stick with it until they completely fix 1.2 - 4 fx banks isnt worth a crash at a gig.
I had this problem once. I upped my latency and my USB buffer and it never happened again. I’ve sat in front of it for 4 or 5 hours at a time now and it will still work.
I know there’s a thread on the NI forums for Technical Issues and the third post on it says “I upped my latency and it went away” and everyone else just ignored it.
Thats because its never user error or something that simple . It has to be evil NI fucking things up.
1.2 is shit i want my money back etc.
Yup. The simple truth is that in many (not all) cases people are getting to wound up about having the lowest latency settings possible when they simply arent viable.
Windows 7 x64 7600 Ultimate, 4GB DDR2, C2D 2.6Ghz, TSP1.2.1, min latency 2.5ms (tried 15ms), external mixer, no timecode
Exactly the same thing happened, the 2 W7 machines had to restart, but the MAC OSX10.6 didn´t.
This is not a Windows issue, it´s the windows port thats at fault. NOT driver related as the kit was different in all set-ups.
Runs perfect for a while, then at random, it just freezes, a quick restart and away again, but thats a lost gig !
If it was one PC at fault I´d say it was down to the rig, but a completely different set-up did exactly the same during the evening.
This is not a good way to get market share, quite the opposite.
USB Buffer settings - smoke and mirrors / clutching at straws - your choice of analogy …
but this is NOT a USB issue, it also effects the Korg 04 firewire connections when using 1.2.1 … but it seems only on the Windows boxes (information gathered after reading the NI forum at length).
This is not a Windows update issue as some suggest, as I have seen that is has effected various XP32, Vista 32/64 & W7 32&64 machines. It´s not region specific, nor language specific, it´s just f***ed up.
For now I´ll be back using 1.1 and my crazy multi-device midi map (i do like the managability of the 1.2 device mapping). I´ll miss the beat slicer, but realistically, I have to finish a night without crashing, before adding sexy effects.
how can i check if i also have this 31 track bug? is it enough if i just load up one after another - 31, or do i have to play them for few seks?
i train only 1-2 h at home, but the upcoming party will be >4
dont wanna get surprised
I cant reproduce this on PC with XP.
I certainly dont have this on Mac as ive done about 30 7hour sets with 1.2.1
Unfortunately (or not) i dont have a Vista machine to test this on so im a bit in the dark.
I have flagged this up numerous times to NI Support. Cus its bugging the hell out of me reading all these posts. Its the most bizzare issue ive ever known (maybe)
Are all you guys sending your crash logs to NI. This will not get solved if you dont.
mhhh i checked the tracks the last set, were 32
and i´ve done 33 now
on a xp machine with vestax vci 100 + audio control
seems that i dont have it, but hmmmm
i also paused my set and made some eggs with grilled tomatoes feat. onions
so everyboy who got the 31 track issue, try this…
My setup:
Dell vostro 1310 3g RAM
Windows XP SP3
Numark DJIO
Oxygen 8 v2 25 key - Ean’s mapping
Traktor 1.2.1 with the imported settings from ean’s mapping
