Traktor 2 audio problems

Traktor 2 audio problems

Hey all,

Decided to give Traktor another try with my CDJ-400’s. I managed to get everything setup fine then shut everything down and when I came back it’s all knackered again.

Here’s my setup.

2 CDJ-400’s, DJM-400, MBP 2010 running trial of Traktor 2. Deck A and Deck B are recognized in Traktor.

Preferences in Traktor are as follows

Output Routing : External
Output Deck A: Says 3 and 4 for the L and R channels
Output Deck B: says 1 and 2

If I choose 1 and 2 it plays on my internal mac’s speaker. If I make both channels the same they both play out through my pa system but only on one channel.

Years back I had tried Traktor and got so fed up with the audio routing baloney I gave up on it, I had hoped they had fixed this issue so I can just plug in both decks, choose deck a/b and GO!

Any tips for an ol’ dog?

If you are using a trial version of traktor, afaik i believe you cannot save settings etc. also, no soundcard for external mixing doesn’t help mate.

Bugger! I keep trying to embrace the new tech but keep getting :rage: I had it working great once, just can’t remember how I got it sorted. Only other soundcard I have is a Komplete Audio 6 but I doubt that’ll help.

I’ll keep at it, I’d really like to try Traktor again.

Cheers!

Spring for the full version of traktor and you will be sorted

Will do. I was about to spring for the remix deck controls but saw that I can use my MKII Maschine instead?! Gotta pace myself too much tech can sometimes be a bad thing.

Question somewhat unrelated to my audio issue, haven’t finished downloading but..

Since Traktor can use 4 decks, I only have two CDJ-400’s, would it be worthwhile to get two more (considering they are now so inexpensive) so I can control all four of the decks in Traktor? I am going to be told to sort my mixer out first, that 2ch DJM-400, problem is which one. I seem to have gone a full 360 from missing my old setup to now going bonkers with all the new possibilities that are now out there.

Well, unless you plan on using all 4 decks simultaneously, it is easy enough to set up a toggle command for the cdj’s in midi mode, eg A<>C B<>D

Could also use the maschine for remix decks, but you should only set up what you are going to use, if you feel you would use 4 then get 4. I don’t see the need in more than 2 for normal mixing just my opinion though.

Thanks mate! Overloaded at the sheer amount of options and ways to accomplish the same thing I suppose. That old way of thinking keeps creeping in, hence, having to have an extra cdj or two to control the other two decks in Traktor if that makes any sense at all

Just having a hard time adjusting to the “virtual” portion of using Traktor which was why I thought I needed more controllers. I’ll have a go at switching, most I’ve used was 3, two blended and a third to segway. Probably should focus more on adjusting to Traktor before I try to even think about incorporating anything else.
