Traktor (3.3) doesn’t save cue-points inside mp3’s
I just watched eans video about how to set up beatgrids. I wanted to beatgrid my files to and assign some cue-points for better orientation but I rather want that information to be stored inside the mp3’s as I’m shifting them around often.
Here’s what I did:
-Went to preferences->Browser preferences->Collection preferences and checked “ID3 tag mode”. It was set to “Ext. + Stripe” which should be correct.
-created some cue-points (of all types)
-right-clicked the file inside the browser window and hit “Write File Tags (async)”
-then I moved the file to another folder on the harddisk
-loaded the track on a deck and BOOM
-BPM analyzes again and all cue-points gone
So what am I doing wrong?
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is because the cue data is not saved to the actual MP3, but is saved to a .nml file which also lists the gain settings, the BPM (after the file is analyzed), and the file location. Since it records the file location, and you are changing that file location, it is creating a new entry for that mp3 and you are losing your settings and cue data. If you put the file back to where it was, it will regain these settings again. Or you could edit this text file to point to the new file location. But be aware, there will be more than one .nml file depending on how many playlists you have created.
you need to async (right click go to something that says “write to file”) it saved all the markers on the .mp3 file
I’m doing exactly that (as described in my 1st post).
Still when I load a track which I’ve written file tags (async) to and which was moved to the Cue List stays empty
Alright im just gona keep listing troubleshooting steps
Are you sure your recalling the same file?
Dose tracktor say its actually “writting” in the bottom left?
Do you have write permissions to the mp3 files?
thats all i can think of
#1: same file: check
#2: says “writting”: it doesn’t say that..it just says ‘ready’ and doesnt change
#3: yes, all admin privileges
I’m running version 3.3.2.060
In the Preferences menu go to Browser Preferences → Collection Preferences… what is the setting for ID3 tag mode?
wish I could help more, I got nothin
got me beat too…ill still post anything if i find something that might help you. Try traktor fourms
Was the deck unloaded before the file was saved ? i dont think traktor saves the file properly unless you unload the deck.
That did the trick!
Although its dumb that I have to “Read tags from file (async)” when I want to get the data out of the mp3, but at least they are inside of it finally
