It seems as if, currently, noone maintains the traktorbible.com website. I wrote Rainer through the contact form on the website. I didn’t receive a reply.
I even searched this forum and the NI forum for any news that Traktor Bible has been discontinued. No definite answers there, either. Does anybody reading this got any insights?
No Traktor Bible is not discontinued. Rainer works on many projects and I know that he has been incredibly busy recently.
I’ll mention the emails but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before he gets around to answering.
Remember that Traktor Bible is the work of just one man (with and elf helper) so the wheels sometimes turn slowly.
I love a good book more than anyone, but with Traktor being updated so often, wouldn’t some sort of online subscription model be a better way to keep it up to date? iBook? Kindle?
The hardcopy is updated as well (at least some of the time) and you can either buy a new hardcopy with all the updates or download the updates (freely! thank you Rainer!!) if you bought an older edition.
That would be nice and Rainer has looked into it. The problem is copying/jailbroken ipads/file sharing etc (although I don’t profess to know that much about digital-print). It’s certainly something that has/is being considered but as the revenue is basically part of Rainers income any loss through copying and sharing etc would make the project worthless. Lets face it anyone prepared to use a cracked version of Traktor will have little issue downloading a copy of Traktor Bible onto their jailbroken iPad.
The book gets a new revision when theres enough new features to cover to warrant a new 300 page book. There have been 3 issues up to now. Since the last book there have only really been 2 major updates to the feature set, remix decks and Key detection.
I wish there was a new hard copy every year, or rather my bank account does
Yup buy once, get free updates for life. Pretty neat.
Good to know that updates are still coming! It has been almost a year since the last one and if you look at the recent comments in the bug radar section (which very badly needs an update) it looks like the site was hacked.
