Traktor equivalent/alternative to Serato Video SL

Traktor equivalent/alternative to Serato Video SL

After watching the Joachim Garraud video on the main website I liked the visual aspect a lot but I aint changing to Serato just for Video SL and would like to know what other software could be used to achieve similar results. Of course Joachim Garraud have a whole team to do that but with I have on mind I can achive great results with far more simple stuff. I would like to sync Traktors midi clock to the visual software.

Has anyone tried this synced visuals with Traktor? What software you recommend/use? Bonus internets to video demostrations.

You could use live to fire video clips or (maybe use mrs pinky and max for the scratch part?) maybe try syncing it with resolume (I never tried but seems possible on paper)

I was thinking the same thing. So far this is what I found:

This guy synced old Traktor with Resolume. Theres some extra editing on the video but the main use it’s there. I’m trying to keep it as simple as possible without too many things running at once to limit errors.

This is close to what Im trying to do:

It’s Mac only software, but VDMX is the ballz! More possibilities than you’ll be able to utilize, However it can be used simply to achieve synched greatness.

I used Module8 a little bit, liked it a lot, just not as much as VDMX.

virtual dj can mix video too

just tried resolume. it didnt work very well with my laptop. laptop isnt struggling processor ram or graphics wise. just the program wasnt happy. really wish ni would do a video addon for traktor. also with resolume is there a way for it to know what track is playing in traktor

Why not control the videos with the MIDI-Messages you already have for Traktor?

If you tell me what MIDI-Notes you use, I’ll program those in for you.

tiesto uses mixvibes vfx control for his stuff.

Sort of OT, but did any one else fill out NI’s survey today?

It was centered around getting users’ opinion on adding video capabilities to Traktor.

I of course answered that they should look into adding it.

Ok. First of all Im learning-while-practicing so bear with me . Im sure many others will benefit from this as well. How to check which midi-notes you are using and pretty much what are those in simple terms? :open_mouth:

Idea is pretty simple. Drum, kicks, claps… all have a clip to trigger. You choose with ones. melody will accentuate transparency color saturation etc. Gain could add a negative (stencil) effect… Sort of mapping photoshop most basic functions to videos. Also maybe throwing in there some user selected picture slideshow… This is pretty much what Resolume do. The problem lies in which traktor function would trigger X effect of transition. Setting it up would be kinda difficult and you would most probably need a secondary PC connected somehow…

where can the NI survey be found

That’s what I was just wondering.

Normally when using Traktor, you use a custom midi-mapping. On those you can simply check for the Midi-Notes or CCs send and make a list of these. In Quartz-Composer you use a MIDI-Input patch to get the Values of each Note and CC, which you then can use either on videos or live 3D-Models, lights, blending, foto-effects. All rendered in real-time.
The video I posted is simply a live-rendered EQ-Representation, meaning: It looks at the different frequencies and renders models/bars/graphic based on this.
The link leads to the posting I did some days ago which has the Plugin included.

oye quenepas, why not just get Serato, a SL-1 and SL-Video. I know its a pretty tough investment, but Rane and Serato gear resell is really good. As for SL-Video, It works pretty good, I tried the demo on my macbook pro and its pretty sick. Ill on the hunt on getting a serial from someone that doesnt use it anymore. Back to your question, why kill yourself on trying to sync and run a midi clock for something that might not work.
