I’m surprised I didn’t uncover this in any of my research.
Not only this, but I have tracks that have been analyzed. They show up in the left menu under “Track Collection” but the same tracks in my iTunes playlist show up with BPM’s at “0.000”.
What gives?
I read in a thread that Rapid Evolution can write to ID3 tags…But I was reading some instructions on the Rapid Evolution site, and it said you can drag and drop songs from Rapid Evolution onto the decks in Traktor…And apparently that’s how it reads them?!
Really? Even with tracks you’ve ripped through iTunes? Because after staying up all night researching, it seems like a lot of people have this problem with Traktor in regards to tracks ripped in iTunes. It’s almost enough for me to go back to my Torq + Xponent combo.
A lot of the tracks I ripped through iTunes have BPM’s that show up as “0.000”. Or even when I load them, Traktor says “cannot write to ID3 tags”.
I have tracks in iTunes that have already been analyzed, but when I go into my iTunes playlist through Traktor, all the BPM’s for the VERY SAME tracks read: 0.000
I have read the manual…Not in it’s entirety, but the parts that I needed to read.
When I search in the manual for ID3 it brings up nothing (which is surprising when you factor in the importance). When I search “quicktime” it brings up nothing (which is also surprising).
But in any case, I do have Quicktime installed. I installed that with iTunes.
But when I search for “M4A” it says “M4A files are compatible” but there’s also this warning:
“DRM-protected music files cannot be played back in TRAKTOR. This affects e.g. AAC-tracks bought in the iTunes store. For example, this would be the case with tracks bought in the iTunes store.”
So I’m not sure what to think anymore…I’m starting to get a lot of mixed responses from Traktor Pro users.
Yeah I’m on a PC. I already did a search for M4A in the manual and all it said was what I just posted about DRM-protected files.
There’s no mention of quicktime in the side warnings, the only mention is that you need to have windows media player installed to play WMA files.
Something is not right…And I downloaded this manual from the service center, because the one on the site said it was good for Traktor LE, Duo, and Pro…I downloaded the one from the service center, because it’s only for Traktor Pro.
I misread your post and thought you meant it was just files bought from iTunes. I’ve bought tracks from iTunes, but I always convert them to mp3. So if it’s the DRM in the ma4 then that’ll do it.
I’ve been using Torq for the last year, and i’m pretty familiar with that, but a lot of the file types that are utilized in Traktor are new to me.
So if it’s DRM protected, is there any way around that?
The really weird thing is that I get a warning saying that I won’t be able to play DRM protected music, and yet, it still plays. Sometimes it won’t load the first time, but if I load it again it’ll play, and it’ll save the BPM’s.
Some tracks won’t even load, but I don’t get a warning either.
At least I’m making some progress, but still not where I want to be.
I’m still having the problem where I have tracks that show BPM info, but when I access my iTunes playlist in the menu on Traktor, all the BPM’s display: 0.000
I can add my iTunes playlist to the “Track Collection” and all the BPM info displays normally.
Meh, we’ll chalk it up to me being borderline illiterate when I’m on the internet
I think Traktor only writes the tags after the track has been removed from the deck. So if you load a track, make changes, set the BPM, etc., you might want to remove it from the deck, or load another song.
It could also be the DRM that is causing the problems, too. I’d say to find a track that isn’t working, create an mp3 version of it in iTunes and try it there. See if that works and it’ll at least narrow down the issue.
For some reason, I don’t have the “create MP3 version” option anymore. I have “create AAC version”, which is weird because according to the file info, it’s already an protected AAC version. I thought maybe I could create another version, but it’s says I can’t create another version of a protected file.
This is really weird for a few reasons, the key being that i’ve played that song in Torq before…And one day it stopped showing up in Torq, and now I can’t play it in Traktor, but it still shows up.
The only thing I know is that It mostly affects the tracks that I ripped from CD in iTunes.
It really sucks, because it’s almost 90% of my music collection that I can’t write to.[/QUOTE]
i rip all my cds in itunes and i can write tags in traktor. that being said traktor is not perfect in reading id3 tags especially if you dont use version 2.4
however i am in a mac and i also have quicktime installed.
