I decided to convert some of my WAV files within iTunes to Apple Loss-less mainly for space saving but also fed up of the WAVs not holding metadata like BPM & artwork etc.
Anyway after converting these within iTunes they play fine within iTunes but Traktor won’t. Traktor sees the files and its metadata but the red bar flashes at the bottom saying could not be played due to missing or corrupt file.
Thanks for that Maxted but I have over 5000 tunes in iTunes so that’s not really an option for me right now.
Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do now? I
Sorry what I meant was both are up to date already but I never realized before that I have Quicktime AND Quicktime 7 installed on my mac and in fact they are 2 separate apps.
I wonder if Traktor needs to lok at one rather than the other to play M4A files and if so how can you do this.
If you’re mac I don’t think that is the problem. Have you tried dragging one of these lossless files directly from the OSX explorer onto a Traktor deck? Does it load?
What version of OSX are you running? I had this same problem running Lion and ended up downgrading back to Snow Leopard because of it. NI will tell you to do a full uninstall of Traktor and reinstall it.
I found that Traktor on has an issue with a few of my lossless files, for the moment I’m just using MP3 versions. Not ideal but hopefully NI will fix in the next update
Was just looking, couldnt actually see how to update traktor software, just dont get why my itunes library was playing and now isnt? I could even see the tracks in the previously listed, but then when i tried to do this again, simply from the itunes library i was getting this message… So frustrating…
Another question too, when trying to beat sync, sometimes it appeared to work, othertimes nothing or the synce button was marked half marked, half not? When that happens i cant change it either
Sorry for being off topic…
Have to say, am not really impressed with the not user friendly software…
You did mention it’s been two years since you last used traktor, has your audio folder been moved at all? It’s possible that since that time, Yourself/Itunes auto-management system etc has moved the files, and it is infact reading them as ‘missing’. What happens when you try drag a song directly from your music folder or Itunes?
As for beat sync, what exactly isn’t working? Are the Tempos the same? Is it just the phase of the music that is out?
There are two different modes of sync that you can play with, One is Temposync (Which is the default), that only matches the tempo, but allows you to move in and out of phase by nudging, and Beatsync which keeps both BPM and Phase Locked together.
folders havent moved as I can play some but not all - that is what I dont really understand. If I go into iTunes as a cross check all songs play which would highlight the libraries havent changed
Beatsync - I only see the SYNC button on my traktor scratch - maybe because this is the basic and now older version. Just doesnt line up all the tracks automatically - maybe because the ranges between the two songs are too far out making it impossible? Maybe that is why the SYNC button is then only half marked - I have no idea tbh…
Just seems a little annoying to use. originally I was using this with the vinyl provided, basically to continue vinyl mixing but with my itunes etc - am gutted that now doesnt work either
Regarding CUES - I know using the Mac I can save cues and always restart from that point - I assume there would be no way to do this if I went back to using vinyl as I would imagine there is no way for the vinyl to know that is the point to start automatically?
Am now tempted to get a controller to make life easier, but am now thinking ditch traktor and try something else, something that will actually play ALL my library!!
