Worked for me a couple days ago but I didn’t use the “slot copy from slot” command. It just happenned randomly when I was trying to map this Remix deck problem -- slot capture loop rec vs trigger which explains my answer to your post.
Took me ages to figure it out but here is how the command is working:
Assignment = the target; the slot where the copied sample will go
Button Values = the source; the slot where the sample you wanna copy is located:
-1 = Still haven’t figured it out yet, nothing seems to happen when I map this.. I’ll dig it
0= Rmx Deck A slot 1
1= Rmx Deck A slot 2
2= Rmx Deck A slot 3
3= Rmx Deck A slot 4
4= Rmx Deck B slot 1
5= Rmx Deck B slot 2
6= Rmx Deck B slot 3
7= Rmx Deck B slot 4
8= Rmx Deck C slot 1
9= Rmx Deck C slot 2
10= Rmx Deck C slot 3
11= Rmx Deck C slot 4
12= Rmx Deck D slot 1
13= Rmx Deck D slot 2
14= Rmx Deck D slot 3
15= Rmx Deck D slot 4
Here is a very basic mapping just to try it. It’s mapped on a launchpad mkII for now but theres a few lines only so you can remap in 1 minute.
It’s pretty gross for now but the idea is there I’ll give it some more time in a few days.
For now you can copy cells from;
-deck C slot 1 to deck D slot1
-deck C slot 2 to deck D slot2
-deck D slot1 to deck C slot1
-deck D slot2 to deck C slot2
The process:
Load samples with different names (easier to track the movement between the slots & cells – this is how I managed to understand how everything was working) to deck C page 1 slot 1&2, and to deck D page 1 slot 1&2
you gotta play the cell from the source & play the cell from the target (to select them)
I encountered some problems with the technique I mapped before - in a 64 cells version ; some samples were like kept in memory and long story short it was driving me crazy.
In this version I’m using 4 more modifiers (which I personally don’t really need), the process is a bit more annoying but I’m open to suggestions on how to improve it to be more instinctive/convenient. It seems to work without errors.
M3=1 refers to rmx deck C slot 1 (each cell turn M3=1)
M4=1 refers to rmx deck C slot 2 (each cell turn M4=1)
M6=1 refers to rmx deck C slot 3 (each cell turn M6=1)
M8=1 refers to rmx deck C slot 4 (each cell turn M8=1)
Process:
trigger the sample you wanna copy from
hold M5 and trigger the cell you wanna copy to (target slot will go mute)
release M5
copy done, press the Reset button (M8 M6 M4 M3 will be reset to value=0)
It’s mapped for the remix deck C 1st page only so that it’s faster to remap. I still need to map the slot1 to slot 1, slot2 to slot2, slot3 to slot3, slot4 to slot4, hoping I’ll bypass the “error; source must be different than target”
It’s also possible to set a modifier condition based on “Sample Page” modifier.
It was hard for me to remap entire TSI to my controllers. Instead I’ll use that time to try build some basic slot to slot mapping for my Twister and see if I can make it better this time.
The problem is not really the page, its the slot…
I tried to map without modifiers and the result was ok though not very reliable. Try the first test I posted. The only benefit was that I could bypass copy to same slot error
I tried to use 1 modifier aswell, with M8 mapped to 4 values, depending the slots. It cannot work imo since I think you need to use the 12 combos for it to work flawless (slot 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 1 , 4 to 2, etc etc) hence the different modifiers
LMK the controller you wanna the test on, I’ll remap it tomorrow I got among my controllers; CNTRL, launchpads, twister, 3D, etc
Have you tried the tsi I posted on page 2? Its waaaaay shorter
Hey I also got it going. Sort of. Need more practice to fully understand the concept..
I was able to click on a cell in remix deck C → hit a pad on my F1 which is mapped to deck D → and finally press the copy slot button to transfer the sample.
No need for cell capture and Deck source states which is nice!
So I think it might work work well for what I have had in mind for my mapping.
Think I’ll have four dedicated buttons which are four different modes or deck D slot target trackers. I’ll have to first go ahead and select the slot destination before the copy and paste step.
If deck C source:
-press button 1: marks the sample cell in deck C.
-release button 1: switches a mod state to remix deck D.
-press button 2: sets the cell target in deck D
-release button 2: copies the sample to that cell
Good to hear that you found sth suitable for you !
Btw here’s the NI answer, it took 1.5 month to get it hehe
Hello nico,
We apologize for the delayed response to your request. Due to the high amount of
incoming requests, we currently cannot achieve our desired response times. We
think it’s important to let you know about the current situation. We apologize any
inconvenience this may have caused.
that is a ‘legacy’ command (comming from the old days of the first ‘sample decks’,
and those only had ONE sample per slot)
It actually does not really work with the new remix decks perfectly.
I could use it to load from a track deck (!) into a specific slot in a remix deck,
but it does not work to copy from a remix slot into another slot.
There is no option to copy from a slot to another slot via a normal mapping (it is
however possible using a F1 remix deck controller)
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you.
