Traktor S4 sync question

Traktor S4 sync question

Ello!

Looks like I’ll be using these forums a lot now so first up big ups to everyone on here who makes it what it is!

Just a quick question with the S4 software:

At the moment when I press Sync it matches the BPM’s, but when I turn it off it jumps the bpm back to the original. Any way of stopping this happening and keeping the matched bpms when its turned off? (A-la Traktor 3)

Cheers!

When I do it it stays the same on or off once it’s sync’d untill i touch the pitch fader ( same as 3 and Pro) . I’m using the s4 with the s4 software.

what you have to do it press the sync while the track is playing. then release the sync. cue/play the track again and its at the right bpm.

is this happening when a track is analizing ?

Yeah, I can’t duplicate this. Explain a little more.

it only happens if you activate sync on the new (stopped) track to match BPMs and deactivate it before you push play

Ah okay I’ve got it now.

That’s the one, any way to stop it from jumping back to the original bpm when you deactivate the sync on the new (stopped) track? (Without having to sync, play the track, turn off sync then go back to your cue, bit of a long process there)

Anyone have a solution for this problem? This is really annoying :disappointed:

Doesn’t really anyone have a solution for this? Is this topic a dead end?

Is it to do with the pitch fader mode in the S4 options? (Absolute / Relative)

I have it set to Relative and mine doesn’t do that.

i dont have an s4

i dont have an s4 but im a midi guru it sounds like what you have is the same problem you get when you use a modifier to turn an encoder to select an effect but when you release the shift and move the encoder the value jumps. and i should. thats correct behavior. is there not an option for midi value takeover on the s4? there is on the maschine, maybe you have to have to be in midi vs nhd? that would be a def bummer :disappointed: if not can you not set the encoder to relative? it may give you diminished range but that can usually be reset with a button.

btw i’ve been hanging out more in the s4 forums despite the fact that i dont have.want an s4 simply because it seems to be ni’s breadwinner and i expect to see more breakthroughs in this section than others. I’m a super super midi nerd seeking inspiration and really like how many of the controls on the s4 do dual purpose, its very effecient.

As has been suggested the triple press (play/sync/cue) is the easiest solution.
I haven’t tested on TP2 but I think they fixed the issue… so maybe try an upgrade?

And hey joeblack if your a super midi nerd (smn?) maybe try the general mapping section and the midifighter if you haven’t already try decoding the midifighter mappings flashflooder’s work is truely impressive.

i have the midifigther super combo efx mapping as one of my pad groups on maschine.

im having more fun right now with using the IAC bus on mac(i think it just works automatically on the pc versions to output midi into a feedback loop that selectively targets and changes modifiers to construct a 3 numbered array sequence. i saw a demo of it and was blown away and literlaly spent like an hour fucking around till i figured it out. it was just a more advanced super know in theory. looks really cool too, yet to find a practical purpose for it though other than showing off ;p

as someone who doesnt have the s4 though or maybe someone who wants more control over sample decs i think i found a pretty impressive controller for just that purpose, and quite economical as well. this layout is king, plus theres several pages http://korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=596 i used to have the old version but this one looks alot better

excuse me that was a bad link, their site is making it impossible to link to a specific image. this is the controller im talking about
