Traktor Timecode Problems

Traktor Timecode Problems

I’ve had the A6 for about 3 months now and I can’t get used to it. I can mix fine with vinyl, yet I can’t get used to timecode. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? It just doesn’t feel as smooth as I expected. Or perhaps I was expecting it to feel like real vinyl too much. This is all pretty unspecific, I just wondered if anyone else found it hard to adjust?

Timecode isn’t as smooth for me, but other than throwing the record it seems fine for me. I usually need to make minor adjustments after throwing anyway.

What does your scope look like and what’s the latency like on your setup?

Chatted with a guy from NI and he said everything was calibrated fine. There is just ‘something’ about the timecode that I can’t get to grips with, just wondered if anyone else experienced this at first

Having had Traktor scratch a similar amount of time (just over 3 months) I can’t say I’ve noticed any issues with smoothness- I find it extremely accurate and don’t find it much different to using normal vinyl to be honest. That being said, I do have my latency set to almost zero which could be the difference?

One thing I do experience however, is a constant flashing red message stating ‘low input’. I get this on both my Technics & Vestax setups, and I have changed wires, swapped & cleaned cartridges, replaced needles, checked my inputs are set correctly- everything I could find on Google.

It’s not a biggie as it’s certainly not effecting the audio (it says low level but the mixer is both showing and producing a strong clear signal), likewise when I use any of the four TTs for playing ordinary vinyl (on the same mixer) I have no issues with input levels. It’s just frustrating that it keeps flashing up on the screen.

But back on topic, as ImNotDedYet said, I would have a look at the calibration and latency settings.

Chatted with a guy from NI a while back and he said it was calibrated fine. I’m running a pretty old laptop, maybe that has something to do with it. But it runs traktor without dropouts and even CPU intensive ableton sessions, so my laptop isn’t all that bad. Just wondered if anybody else experienced this at first, thinking about selling it and my x1 to get some cdj400s.

Yepp. The latency isn’t much but it will throw you offuntill you get used to it. Its a slight but noticabledifference when your used to no latencybetween the needle and the record. I had the same issue with final scratch.
