NI has announced on their forums the list of updates for version 2.1.2

So far:

  • Improved stability of sending and receiving MIDI Clock
  • Cueing behaviour when using CD Timecode fixed
  • Ignores Track Start Position offset in CD and Relative timecode mode
  • Phase offset when using CUP in instant mode fixed
  • Issue with CUP in instant mode for all decks fixed
  • Switching to built-in soundcard as fall-back issue resolved
  • MIDI controls “Tempo Sync”, “Load Loop Play”, “Load From List”, “Track End Warning” now fixed
  • Drag & drop from Preview Player to Deck fixed
  • Fixed deck tempo tapping
  • Fixed Reset Deck Controls for Pitch Fader
  • Issue when loading a missing Sample to a Sample Slot now fixed
  • Starting ASIO control panel for some 3rd party devices from “Preferences/Audio Setup” now fixed

Looks like they’re fixing all the things they stuffed up in 2.1.1! Though I’m keen to see that they’re fixing the CD cueing issue.

fingers crossed

goes to update traktor

gets really mad that its not in service centre!

drinks wine as anger management routine

It’s in beta stage kaek, give it a few weeks.

Sorry kaek, just thought the peeps here would be keen to know what coming in the next update!

Stay tuned, you’ll probably hear pretty quick when the new version is out!

Oh god yes. I was so dissapointed when they broke shit all over the place with this latest release.

Simple things that should NOT have slipped through testing. I woulda rolled back but I didnt fancy tagging up near 200 songs again.

I just hope its released when its fixed instead of pushing it out the door too quickly and pissing all of us off again!

Also, curiously, NI has released a new version of their timecode CDs/Vinyl.

It seems that there will be some increase in functionality in the near future, as the new timecode is only valid from v2.1.1 onwards. I’m keen to see what NI have in the bag…

Very interesting stuff jez, nice one!

Im curious to see what else they can do with timecode. I didnt really see the need to rewrite it, it works as I expect.

I sincerely hope this isnt a case of ‘if it aint broke, dont fix it’. I like the vinyl emulation and dont want them to break it.

I’m not sure about increase in functionality, I think it’s more about not having to give N2IT a chunky licensing fee for every scratch license sold. So it probably just has equal/better response as the old timecode.

Had issues with timecode waiting to calibrate at gig on thursday. Ended up having to switch to controllers as the right deck refused to calibrate. Cables, carts and timecode vinyl both switched but no joy. Praying this gets fixed and asap.

It is me or Traktor 2 is getting fixes/updates more quickly than older versions? IMHO, I haven’t had any major issues so far, as a matter of fact, I feel TP2 more stable than TP1…

No HID support for CDJ350 though? Really miss Traktor but love the feel of my CDJs

wheres the xone: db4 timecode support?

*And realize’s he now has more problems with update!

*Demands new update.

*Now hitting the hard liquor.

*Same routine.

Yes i’m curious as to what this new timecode mk2 is? Karlos any idea?

Thanks for the heads about about the new timecode. I just ordered a new set.

Also is this: Ignores Track Start Position offset in CD and Relative timecode mode

pertaining to fixing the Timecode problems I’ve been having in 2.1.1? That’s the only thing I notice that could be the reason why timecode CDs don’t work. I could be missing it totally though.

possibly. or maybe it could be a fix for that issue i brought up in regards to having the blue playhead being ahead of the red playhead even at the very start of the track?

Yeah. Its NIs own timecode. My back-to-back testing shows that its seems tighter and less prone to skipping and (whilst not a real issue) the “weeeeeeeeeeeee” sound of the timecode is way way quieter. Some people hate that sound but its just the timecode. You can clearly see the difference between the 2 timecode stamps on the vinyl.

I havent tested the CD timecode.

As for the speculation about the N2IT licence, I have absolutely no information on this matter and I wont comment on it at all.

People have already thrown around a load of theories on the NI forum, usually coming from the usualy suspects of members that are looking for salacious stories.

All I know, as someone that was on the Beta testing phase on timecode, is that we were looking for better timecode performance. I have no interest in legality matters.

Cheers Karlos, it’s good to know the newer timecode is superior than the old.

Id say that it is. But id also say that if your testing it your looking for flaws etc.
If you gave someone one new and one old they may not notice the difference. I noticed less skipping when scratching so if you dont scratch you may not notice as much.

They look and sound completely different.

Ill try get a pic up of the surface.

Hopefully they will bring out a load of funky colours for the people buying TSP from now on because anyone buying TSP as of now (supplied with the MK2 timecode) will not be able to use MK1 timecode, it will not calibrate.
