Traktor via CDJS. How?

Traktor via CDJS. How?

I’ve got an NI Audio 4, laptop, Traktor Pro 2. I’ve always used this with a VCI-100SE…

Do I need anything extra to work Traktor with CDJs in clubs? (removing the VCI-100 from the equasion)

you need Trakto SCRATCH Pro.

and control CD’s of course.

I know the answer. Sorry to be a bitch on that one but come on, google it, seriously. Or search the forum.
I’m even too lazy to make you a “let me google that for you” link.

I’ve googled it many times, not so many web pages that tell you exactly what is needed. I’m aware there is Traktor Duo/Scratch, but never known how it all works and whether I would need additional hardware.

Never needed to know how it all works, so been a bit dumb to it all.

NI’s product line stuff can be confusing. If you have an Audio 4 you can get the S4 scratch upgrade kit to make you’re current version of Traktor Pro 2 Traktor Scratch Pro 2, which you’ll need when using timecode. You’ll only be able to use two decks with that, but if you’re using TT’s then that’s probably all you need. You won’t be able to use the sample decks or the loop recorder unless you get a sound card with more connections. To use Scratch you’ll need an NI sound card. If the club as a Scratch certified mixer you won’t need your sound card and can play with as many decks as the mixer has channels.

Thanks for that info =)

TT’s ?

turn tables

Also depending on the CDJ, they can act as deck controllers so that you don’t even need a Scratch kit.

If I had Traktor Scratch / DUO, could I still use a midi controller if I wasnt using TT’s/CDJs ?

Yes. The only difference is that timecode control (ie scratch functionality) is unlocked.

When you get your head around this and try and set this up, remember to change your soundcard settings to take line input! NOT Phono/vinyl.

The first time I tried to get it working I stumbled over just that!

so to add on to the OP question, if i have cdj2000s so i need a scratch kit with my s4? because cdj2000s and s4 scratch upgrade are next on my gear upgrade list lol

No, because you can use 2000s as HID controllers and you don’t need a scratch licence for that.

dope!!! but i need a traktor certified mixer right?

Nope, you just need a standard version of Traktor Pro and a sound card with enough outputs.

sounds like a legit plan thx for the help and sorry for semi hijacking the thread

You don’t even need that, the CDJs have sound cards built in.

How can ı upgrade my Traktor Pro 2 to use the scratch function and cdjs ? What am ı going to upgrade to ?

true, didn’t even think of that.

You need to buy a scratch package, either a full package with an audio interface from NI or a certified mixer with the upgrade kit. Unless you’re using HID enabled CDJs as mentioned above.

I actually bought an audio 2.I dont need a big soundcard right now but maybe ı can think of upgrading my traktor pro 2 to the scratch.

Its not possible to use the Traktor Pro on cdjs ?
