Just looking through various sites to insure all my DJ equipment, who do you UK guys recommend for insurance?
I’v been looking at Allianz and DJGuard so far. I ain’t a mobile DJ, but i do have a DJ setup in my home and i have a separate setup and studio equipment at a different address but things change from time to time, including taking gear to gigs and laptops to different places etc.
ive used allianz for studio gear before whilst running youth projects in music production i had no problems with them great value for money im going back to them again shortly as have got more youth project work coming up
Quotes on both sites are quite similar so really a toss up on the better cover..
Allianz will only let me insure 20 items on the online policy (i have like 40).
I’ve not made a claim yet, but I think I remember reading on another thread about people who have and they had no problems with the claim, think laptops have a depreciation thing on them but they still paid out.
i called dj guard for a quote a few weeks back, word of advice, check how much the premium is WITHOUT the £250 excess, it was only 50p more for me!! i don’t know why anyone would opt for the excess lol
Really tempted to get this, especially after landing a residency at a underground bar where the booth is protected but can still be reached by drunkards.
Never really thought about getting this, and I have been playing out for 3+ years.
I was using DJ guard all last year when i was running my own nights, there was atleast 3k worth of kit getting brought each night, (not including laptops), some guy managed to climb up the front of the booth, grab a handful of cables and fell back down, ripping out a serato box, luckily the box wasnt actually connected to anything but still badly damaged the box, DJ guard replaced it no problem eventually, took a while though.
Thanks for the input that helps. Don’t really mind the depreciation thing for laptops as that’s life, longs the rest of my stuff is covered.
Thanks for this, i’ll go away and double check. Sometimes insurance companies can be quite foolish like that!
Haha! I think you should! I’v been playing out five years with (touch wood) no accidents, but i only bring my headphones but i’m moving lots of gear between two/three places just now quite a bit so need it.
Thanks for this mate! I hate clowns like that, so many drunk people try and grab our computer screen we use to control the lights even though its 7ft above the floor. WTF goes through their minds?
It took a while? How long roughly? It won’t really effect me the time scale but just so i’m aware.
