UK garage …dead?/Also Please Post Your Favorite New or Old Tunes Here
I seems like everyone forgot about garage. Like the lastest thing i heard of it was the Ministry of Sounds album. Like if someone wanted to mix house, techno and trance they would be fine because there is still great production and a market for those genres but it seems like garage music had too many kids which we know as, dubstep, grime, uk funky, bassline and the list could go on how many genres it inspired.
I recently just discovered it and man i wish it was still popular cause it gives such a unique feeling to me when i listen to the old skool tunes of the 1990’s. But as a beginner dj I wish I could look forward to mixing garage but sadly it looks like I am the only one probably in canada that still like it.
So my question is Are there any forum member out there that still mix garage? and do you any you think that uk garage will be brought back to life? I hope so because right now all i got is bunch of old skool tunes i quietly listen to in my room to myself

I still listen to speed and 2 - step. Its most definitely worth incorporating into your sets and will at best separate you from the mass of DJs following recent trends.
You’ll probably only encounter resistance from the younger demographic, but in reality there will always be some who take issue with your selection. The ideal for me is pleasing everyone in attendance (Including myself).
My synopsis is that UKG is far from dead, there just happen to be other genres in the limelight atm. Seriously, I was just experimenting with a 2 - step version of Delinquent - My Destiny.
There’s a lot of people still doing garage and 2-step.
Submerse, Para, VVV. A lot of Spanish breaks guys are using 2-step beats too - Kultur & Colombo (although they work separately now), The Brainkiller has some, Manu Twister did a killer recently.
Check out L2S Recordings, always some killer stuff on there, and Furioso recordings do some stunning (and quite different) things as well.
There’s lots of others, of course, but these are some of my favourites.
I think I feel another Beached As Breaks 2-step special coming on.
Thats true. My main audience is teens since i can only play at all ages or under 18 dances and clubs. There aren’t many in the first place and the ones we do have play mainly top 40’s, electro house, pop.. you tha stuff mainstream teens like. I think the best way to intoduce garage tunes in your set would probably be at the end cause it’s a nice way to chill things down for the night.
and @ellgieff thanks it looks like the spaniards are helpin to keep it alive
I think the UK still has some garage fans since it was started there but here in Canada and the US there isn’t any mention of it at all
Yo R2D2 that sounds like grime regardless if garage is still alive underground then i got to start diggin for it and I did find that bbc site for garage which had like top tens. right now the video below has a bulk of my favorites
But my all time favorite is Jahiem - Just In Case (Dubaholics mix) the vocals in beginnin of that song just make me want to cry in happiness hahaha
I wouldn’t say Garage itself will ever be what it was but there are certainly a lot of exciting sub genres which would fit in the same category and are even better in my opinion. UK Funky or Funky as it’s now known is huge over here at the mo, Katy B proves that. Also, Dj Zinc, Warrior One, Doorly, Redlight, Toodla T, French Fries, Roska, The return of Ms Dynamite even Jack Beats, Foamo and a lot of the other fidget produces are all pushing this sound and incorporating elements of garage, funky, grime etc into their music. Personally I think Rinse FM has had a huge impact in making this scene recognised again and huge shouts go out to them for doing so.
Check out my new mix in my sig. It will give you a good representation of where this scene currently is. Feedback appreciated as always.
WOW R2D2 THANKS!! I guess this thread could be a place where people post old and new tunes along with sharing info on the lastest garage/2-Step/Uk Funky/ Speed Garage… etc stuff
