Ok, I get chuck testa, I get the philosoraptor, and while its not a meme, there’s an internet fad I can’t wrap my head around, and I was hoping somebody could shed some light on why.
Unboxing videos. I’m lookin around at controllers on youtube, and all I find are people unboxing and doing reviews. One video in particular was 90% taking the thing out of its shipping box, and then packaging, and 10% showing the unit. What is the draw to videotaping something in the box? I don’t care how UPS stamps your box, or even about the shipping label, and I definitely don’t care about the box it comes in, show me what it does!

when im looking for a new gadget i look at reviews and the unboxing videos always come up, makes me laugh at how much time people have i bet they unbox them first look at it then box it back up and video. they take it so serious its worth a look just to have a giggle
Its usually done by people have been sent free stuff from companies and they are basically congratulating themselves for getting something free and trying make people think they are cool.
Others are done by people who just want to put shit on YouTube. I mean, YouTube is full of people who just want attention.
A few are done because they genuinely want others to know what your gonna get when you buy something… These are cool but few and far between.
It 's always hilarious if the dude struggles with opening the package because he 's using one hand to hold the camera or because he 's got an extra chromosome.
Great video lol my favorite is when people feel the need to read every label, piece of writing or branding on the box instead of opening it, and showing that the unit can physically do what the box says it does.
Worst unboxing vid I ever saw was one of my OCZ vertex 2 SSD, the guy literally detailed the differences in positioning of labels on the packaging from the vertex 1.
