So I was at the store today to see if I could still upgrade to traktor scratch pro in a digital way. But all the software discs can’t be sold
because not that long ago scumbag NI was all like: “Sup brah, I heard you like time code vinyl software, so we bundled a soundcard with your software, brah, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay, brah.”

Question 1:__
And I was about to buy a nice awesome scratch certified mixer, but that seems a bit pointless now.
Or can you use an A6 for channels decks A&B and the internal soundcard for decks C&D ??

Question 2:__
Also with an external soundcard providing all the necessary soundcard goodness can you recommend another good mixer perhaps ?
I was really fond of the Korg Zero 4 because it’s got a
-4 channel soundcard
-sends and recieves midi
-dedicated effects per channel and aditional effects on the master out
-a gazillion (fictional number) EQ types
-lots of channel modes such as audio, midi, hybrid midi & audio
-A VU-meter that actually is helpful to look at (I’m looking at you S4)
-…

I can have one sent to me for €599 or $787
Does anybody know of a mixer that does all of the above even better and is cheaper or is in roughly the same price range ?

A quick glance at the allen & heath website tells me a xone won’t be good alternative, sadly.
Also don’t bother with suggesting pioneer mixers, I dislike pioneer products.

“Scumbag NI” are still selling certified upgrade kits “brah”.
And they seem to have knocked 60% off the price - yup, complete scumbags.

I don’t really hate NI, I could never stay mad at them. And yes some things have dropped in price, but the thing is I want to buy the software AND ONLY the software, now I need to pay for a soundcard wether I want it or not.

and selling certified scratch upgrade kits as in scratch certified ?
Well I’m buying the mixer from a legit store but it’s used so it comes without traktor, additional software is available for free on the Korg website if I decide to get the korg.
So that’s not going to be able to help me.

At the risk of repeating myself, NI are still selling certified upgrade kits and they seem to have knocked 60% off the price - they are 99 euros or some such, come with ‘software, control vinyls, control CDs’. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/dj/traktor-kontrol-s4/software-timecode-kit/

I have also seen that, but when the mixer I intend(ed) to buy DOES NOT come with software to upgrade, will that work ?
Seems crazy to upgrade software you don’t have. But if you’re right about this then that’s awesome.

FYI: I don’t want to S4 upgrade kit because I don’t want to remain tied to my S4 (The S4 upgrade kit only works with the S4 as you may or may not know.)

I hope I’m right - the NI website doesn’t like IE6 so I’m going off a week old text-cache

I saw TSP2 w/A10 on an American site today $399. That is HELLA cheap.

So I contacted my favorite DJ store about this and they said either get a scratch certified mixer from us with TSP 2 included or if you want to use the Korg Zero 4, you have to get the full version, in other words an Audio 6.

FYI:I won’t get a mixer from them, they wanted me to get a DJM-T1 w/TSP2 for 999 and I said hell no, that seems a terrible deal, and I already bought the korg, it should ship this week.

Now I’m still not sure who’s right. Either the store 's right OR the store wants to misinform me to make more money and lethal_pizzle was right and all I need is that timecode kit.
And if you’re wondering the store is very familiar with NI and traktor and the salesmen know their stuff.

All you need is the timecode kit.

Edit: Send NI an e-mail and have them confirm it for you, if you really really just don’t know who to believe :stuck_out_tongue:

The Korg Zero 4 is a…

…so all you need is the timecode kit.

Do you have Traktor Pro 2 now? If you do you can buy the S4 scratch upgrade kit just like lethal was saying. If you don’t you’ll need to get it, I think there’s a few serials for sale in the buy/sell section right now.

Recieved another email from the store, basicly they said they’d be amazed if that works if I just get the timecode kit.

So I contacted NI.

If you have a Traktor licence, the upgrade kit should work. If you don’t, then you pretty much get to eat it, from NI’s perspective.

Excellent, except as we’ve (now rather painfully) been trying to say, he doesn’t need a Traktor license to qualify for this upgrade, just a Traktor certified mixer
