up beats and down beats
ive looked this up and ino its probly around here some where but read a lot of stuff talking about up and down beats and just need someone to clarify, is an up beat a kick drum and a down beat usually a snare or is it something completely different, thanks in advance for the replys 
In a typical 4/4 house song the downbeats are the kicks. The upbeats are the spaces in between the kicks, like where the open high hat is usually in your typical house beat.
It’s counted “one and two and three and four and” - the numbers are the downbeats and the “ands” are the upbeats.
