Using KRK Rokit 8’s for house parties?

Hey all I’m looking to upgrade my speakers and I’m looking at the KRK rokit 8 and the Yamaha MSR 100/250. I’m just wondering with just one KRK rokit would I be able to rock a house party? How would the bass response be? The main problem with my current speakers (Numark NMP5) is that they are 20W and have weak bass, would 90W be a big difference or should I go with something like the MSR 100’s 100W or 250’s 250W?

Really depends on the number of people. The more people, the more sound gets blocked and absorbed by said people. It would have to be a petty small party for on KRK 8 to do the job well.

could you ballpark a number? 50-100?

You can’t take a speaker designed as a studio monitor and expect it to perform like a PA system. That said if you spend $200 on something it will probably sound better in any situation than its $100 counterpart.

My buddy threw parties in his nice size studio apartment with two Rokit 8s. I don’t think one will cut it.
