Using USBs To DJ

When someone says they use USBs to DJ, what exactly does that mean?

USB as a music storage device connected to appropriate players/controller or software on a laptop instead of carrying lots of cd’s/vinyls to use on vinyl or cd deck.

Probably just have their mp3s on the USB sticks and directly insert them in the CDJs. :wink:

So if you have a CDJ, do you not need a program like Traktor or Serato?

Check out the Recordbox. It is the software Pioneer come up with - you can use that peace of software to analyze your tracks and then export that information (beat grids, BPM, cuepoints etc) on your flesh drive along with tracks. This makes beatmaching on CDJs easier than before.

You can also use the CDJ as a controllers if you prefer to DJ with Traktor or Serato and have computer carry and analyze your tunes.
