Sorry for the somewhat unclear title, but it is indeed weird! I have 2 turntables, let’s call them turntable 1 and 2, and a total of 3 pickups, let’s call them pickup 1, 2 and 3.
Well since both turntables are able to play stereo I don’t see how the patch cables could be the issue. I just can’t understand why a turntable that can play stereo and a pickup that can play stereo wont work together
id pull the needle stylus “needle” out, reinsert also make sure you’re getting a good connection from the tone arm to the cartridge itself, I’ve had that happen before and all it took was a proper connection… also check the ground wire just to be safe.
Have you cleaned the contacts?
A pencil with an eraser on the end will help scrub oxidation off the contacts.
Have you set the anti skate correctly for each deck?
If the stylus isn’t riding the groove correctly you can get mono playback sometimes. Likewise, worn styli can sometimes go mono as they wear down and don’t sit in the groove correctly any more.
Hi guys, thank you very much for you help, I think the problem is solved. I haven’t tried all the needles on both turntables but all three produced stereo on the first on so I think it’s all good. Even though it they didn’t look very dirty, I cleaned the four pins on both the tonearm and the whatever-you-call-the-big-thing-at-the-end-of-the-tonearm.
