…At the CCP Eve-Online Fanfest in Iceland. To say the least, it was very weird crowd of mostly MMORPG nerds, combined with a reasonable amount of people that actually know who 2manyDJ’s are.
I saw them in Berlin this summer at Watergate and they were great there, although the place was way too packed then and I didn’t really enjoy it that much.
Then came the news that Steph managed to break his leg in Sweden on friday so Dave would be playing by himself. So I expected the set to be maybe a little more tame than usual from them - but oh my god, that guy can spin. He completely rocked, insane transitions and total non-stop mashup madness. Major Lazer’s Pon De Floor combined with Aphex Twin’s Windowlicker was probably the highlight.
They might not be digital DJ’s, but they totally embrace the multi-deck philosophy and they never compromise.
What do you guys think about them and their contribution to DJing?
Wait, th played in weden :O? When and where, cant belive I missed them. And yea I saw them this summer in a festial here in Sweden, they totalt rocked it. Loved their animted video stuff too.
I got the chance to see them in Mexico a few years back and they blew my mind. They also performed as Soulwax earlier in the night which was another amazing performance all together.
I think any one who has seen them spin or play live can agree that they set a very high bar for the art of djing.
P.S. although they primarily spin w/ Vynl and CDJs, When soulwax takes the stage it is a beautiful marriage of analogue outboard gear and digital controllers. Steven Dewaele uses the Fader Fox controllers to effect Ableton Live
Oct 1 Rust - Copenhagen, Denmark - 2manydjs dj set
Oct 2 Berns - Stockholm, Sweden -2manydjs dj set
Oct 3 Laugardalshollin - Reykjavík, Iceland - 2manydjs dj set
Oct 26 O2 Academy Brixton – London, UK – 2manydjs dj set
Oct 30 Shrine Auditorium – Los Angeles, USA – 2manydjs live show
Ha, funny you mention that, I saw them at hardfest halloween last year. They killed it, and when they were soulwax later that they were even crazier. Those two belgians really are just amazing.
Momentum, Im assuming your going to stereosonic perth? Im going to stereosonic sydney haha! Unfotunately I missed out on parklife cause tickets sold out but I still saw MSTRKRFT at the afterparty so Im still stoked =)
BTW, just looking at that list of gigs that bergen posted and I see a “2manydjs live show?” I wonder what that is… maybe just thats just them playing with more ableton-incorporated set? They already make it confusing enough considering they call themselves different things if they are DJing or truly playing live.
It’s just them playing a DJ set but with visuals to go along with it. I think they use DVJ’s but not totally sure, it might just be a VJ controlling the visuals. It’s good fun but a lot of predictable songs and they seem to be tied to pretty much the same set as they only have visuals for so many tracks. Don’t know why it’s labelled a “Live” set rather than an “AV Set” which is what it is… Like I said, it’s predictable tripe for the masses, but good fun if you get past that.
