this thread may be of use. Use the search function in the top right hand of the forum to help narrow down and sometimes you won’t have to start a new thread.
Numark TTX, Stanton Str8-100, Numark TT500, Vestax PDX.
Mixer Numark DXM06, 09, Ecler Nuo 2.0.
After mixing on high torque TTs I find it hard to even mix on Technics, they are very sluggish.
Also, what TABS said. I don’t know much about turntables so I can’t offer too much ![]()
Thanks guys ,
But how would I work something like this ? With a Ipod ? Would I needa soundcard and laptop to play this and such ?
No don;t even think about buying that. You could atleast get some Gemini TT-02,03s etc…or even some tt200s…Avoid any DJ In box stuff.
How would this set-up be and how long would it last ?
2 Numark TTUSB
1 Numark 5000FX
Traktor Pro
Macbook Pro
Numark WS32
Numark PHX USB

You don’t have to have turntables. Look at getting a controller like the VCI-100 or the Hercules Steel or one of the Numark control series. Do you have a laptop? Your pretty much going to need that because you won’t be able to prepare your music properly with just an iPod. Traktor and Serato both require you to be able to write tags to the music to be able to really use it. You can’t edit files like that while they’re on an ipod so you’ll have to have a computer.
As far as software goes download the free trial of traktor pro and have at it for awhile. It’s fully functional except for recording and you’ll have to restart the software every 30 minutes. You can do a pretty decent mix with just a mouse and the keyboard if you practice.
Now slow down a little, go to the home page and read up on posts there. There’s a link on the right that says roll a random post use that to keep getting different stuff.
you seem dedicated to get decks
listen: get a controller and traktor. especially if like me, your going to keep it in the bedroom 90% of the time
then once you know youre dedicated to this you can drop some cash on decks or what ever you want
Smaart idea. Imma do it like youu. Thanks for the advice ![]()

Ediit : A controller is a mixer right ? ![]()
Nope. A controller is a device that controls MIDI signals and allows you to play music using a program such as Traktor on your computer. A mixer is an analogue device that allows you to control volume and EQ’s of the music externally without a computer.
A controller would be the VCI-100SE, Numark Total Control, Vestax Spin and the list goes on.
A mixer is a DDM-4000 or DJM 400 and such
So basically I needa have traktor pro , controller , turntables , mixer , headphones , mic , speakerr and a laptop then imma be set ?

no! a controller is just like 2decks and a mixer, but you will need a laptop or desktop computer, and you might need a sound card.
hey, if you dont need this stuff right now, try and do some research and stuff, hang around here, stuff like that for a few weeks
then when you understand this stuff real well then make your decisions
my set up was really low cost and i spent around $500, so if thats loose change for you, i suppose you could dive into things without figuring it out first. but if youre tight in cash, research.
No you don’t need a controller and a mixer and turntables
you can either mix music with the turntables and a mixer, or with a controller. 2 separate things. if you got the money to spend and you want to go for it, buy the turntables and a mixer but if you’re strapped for cash (my situation, and many others) then get a controller so you can learn the basics of mixing and what mixing music is all about. you also don’t need a mic right away, but you do need to get some speakers and a sound card.
and yes you need traktor pro (or serato) and a laptop if you plan on mixing with your computer
ok ok how about this.
give us how much money youre willing to spend, and what stuff you already have
$6000 and nothing yet…

do you have anything other than computer speakers?
do you have a laptop?
do you plan on moving your set up around?
are you just going to do this in you bedroom?
I hope that is a typo and you mean $600…
yeah, i was thinking the same. but i keept my mouth shut because i thought it would be fun planning a 6k setup lol
Ooh shit , yea it was $600 , Sorry ![]()
