What DJ software solutions are available?

So,

Searched the forums, didn’t find what i needed. I’m trying to get a list of all DJ software that’s available to help out a friend to decide what would be best for him. This is what I have so far:

DJ Programs
Traktor (1.x-3.x, Pro)
Virtual DJ (Home Ed.)
MixVibes (Home Ed.)
Deckadance (Home Ed.)

DVS Programs
Traktor (Scratch, Scratch Pro)
Traktor (2.6-3.2) (FSOpen)
Virtual DJ (Pro Ed.)
Deckadance (Club Ed.) (FSOpen)
Serato Scratch Live
DJDecks (FSOpen)
MixVibes (Producer, Cross)
Torq
PCDJ (Dex) (FSOpen)
Mixxx (FSOpen)

VST Plugin
Deckadance
Ms. Pinky IWS

Does anyone have anything to add to the list? Mind you I use Traktor Scratch Pro, learning to route it through Ableton like Bento does. But I’m trying to be very nonbiased with my advice, because what’s sh*t for me might be amazing for him.

Your missing Ableton off your list too

Ableton is not a dj program…runs for his life

j/k

Grabs his machete… Damn churo!

I know, I know.. I also didn’t include Reason, which he might be using. I was mainly trying to list specific programs that are made for DJing, not that Ableton isn’t awesome. As my post said, I’m learning to use it myself at the moment.

Well, difference between Reason and Ableton is, that you can actually (mis)use Ableton to DJ as a standalone DJ software app.

Haven’t seen anyone trying to do that with Reason tbh.

A friend of mine runs reason while spinning and only really fires it off when she’s running out of time on a track to cover for the next transition.

MixVibes DVS is available, too (besides cross)

Yeah D, but that’s almost the same like making a real live loop to fill for you when running out of time?

Still not a standalone DJ app if you ask me?

I never said it makes sense, i just said that she does it =p Gah, too much caffine… still… can’t… sleep

New iTunes 8.whatever has iTunes DJ.

I heard that Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin have both moved over to iTunes DJ.
Every part of that statement is true apart from the words.

Ableton is not DJ sofware it its Live Production Software
runs like hell with JesC avoiding Tekkis machete

It has a Dj tutorial and has Dj related features the only thing you cant do is scratch a wav form, id still call it a DJ program - its just a different look at djing, but its still call it djing.

I know , im just being a tit.

Djay for mac.
