What do you think the new DJTechTools controller is going to be ??

As the title says

Discuss . . . . .

I just got an email from DJTT a few days ago containing a survey for a VCI-100 MKii mapping and on the about page the electrical engineer (Michael Mitchell) says that since making the midifighter that he has “some exciting new products currently in the works.”

My question is how long Michael Mitchell has been working on this piece (assuming it isn’t some joint venture). My guess is that it’s going to be something that will be easily complimented by a MF or MF-pro, so probably a midimixer of some sort.

Oh good lord I hope it’s a mixer. Or a BETTER mfPro!

Think S4, no jogs, all the buttons are arcade. I guess that wouldn’t be very creative, though, huh… just a boat load of buttons knobs and faders… Then again … what else do we need???

An effective pitch bend and tempo control. Pitch bending is static and temp bending is only good with an encoder due to sync… I would love to see some LED encoders.

It’s just going to be simple buttons and knobs used in a creative. I don’t believe they have the means to make any more complex hardware like high res jog wheels, encoders with feedback, etc.

Ohh I’m sure they do. If I do then they most certainly do, it wouldn’t be manufactured by djtt but it is easily possible that they are getting some parts custom made.
If they get some parts made in modules it could work like that, i think before we make assumptions like that we need to have a look at there existing products and wait and see what there new product is.

Whatever it is i’m sure it will be awesome, i think it will be some kind of midi mixer in the same build style as the mf classic

Actually that sounds pretty cool. I’d be interested.

i agree with MrPopinjay. When creating something complex DJTT usually works as advisers to a larger company who do all of the manufacturing. see Novation Twitch, Kontrol S4 and S2.
History shows that when DJTT design and manufacture something themselves its the simple but effective use of buttons and knobs. ie midi-fighter/pro’s etc.

^^^ yeah true, ean usually develops a bigger controller with other companies. i hope it is a mixer because i would be interested

when you look at the progression from the original mf, you can see the product design becoming more and more on level with bigger companies. way i understand it this will be an entirely in house djtt product. no outside influence, or product development.

A midifighter that changes like a transformer when you find the combo

Yes but all the parts are readily available parts, nothing is custom made at all. They don’t have the money to get a factory churning out custom bits of plastic, they are doing exactly what you or I could do and then sticking them together by hand.

yeah but when you look at their current level of product development the only thing that has to be specially produced is the circuit boards everything else is off the shelves, all the other stuff will come later in development i said they are nearly there

interesting. i still dont think it will be overly elaborate. DJTT’s whole reputation relies on having products that will sell. They cant afford (financially or otherwise) for any of their products not to sell and i think the more technical their products the bigger the gamble.

Having said that a big gamble that pays off could provide the finances they are looking for!!

Maybe a midi-only mixer?

a real mixer or a midi mixer? i wouldn’t have thought they’d venture into the audio path side of things.

i’d expect some next iteration midifighter type of controller with a higher ratio of pots+faders to arcade buttons compared to the mfp’s.

Are the sanwa clear arcade buttons not custom? The 45 mm bourns faders on the pros might not be custom but can’t be got by you or me unless we want hundreds direct from the factory with a 15 week lead time

defiantly a midi mixer don’t think the have the cash to run into soundcard’s or audio yet

midi mixer, it would be stupid to go into the audio path now because you will close down the market for your average digital dj, unless it had a soundcard built in
