What effect does he use, and how to reproduce it?
Hi,
Jochem paap aka speedy j, uses a typical delay technique in his mixing. I tried different stuff, but can’t seem to find the magic combination.
What do you guys think?
You can hear the effect in this video around 6 min. It’s the high sweeping delay sound I’m looking for.
Looking forward to your reactions.
Thnx!
You sure that’s not part of the track?

100% I have the 3 tracks of this video in my collection.
He’s doing the same effect around 8:55 in this video.
Then he’s probably using something like the Lexicon PSP42 plugin, same as Richie Hawtin uses.

This is Tape Delay effect in Traktor if I’m not wrong. He is using button #2 to freeze the sound - you can then deactivate the effect but keep your button #2 still ON and you will hear that delay feedback in sound.
no… i know the right answer… because i saw him with this setup…
he use the elektron octatrack, that is a sampler sequencer from elektron that cost about 1500€/1600$…
this sampler has the capability to be used also as external Fx unit because it has multiple INs and OUTs…
so, he is using the delay of the elektron octatrack that is pretty unique. there is a free delay for Max 4 live that is really similiar

That was my thought to, but i can’t seem to find the right balance.
The dubfire rattlesnake effect is easy to do, but this one cuts the highs and uses only mids.
I also tried the delay t3 and activate BTN 3, for the funky sound you get when turning knop 3. But that’s not the effect he’s using
my advice would be: try to find your personal “effect rack” instead of emulating others

By emulating others, you learn, i don’t see what’s wrong with learning…

The only thing you should know is how a Delay works. Once you understand that, the rest it’s all about test various combination of delays and reverbs until you find something that is 100% yours and unique
