what is this music?

i was meandering around youtube looking for music for my first gig, and i came across this song.

does anyone know what this particular style of music is called? on soundcloud it has no tags that are similar. if anyone knows any tracks like this, please respond with a link.

I was going to “crappy” if that’s a genre but I’d have to agree with MusicFreq, it’s Progressive House. Just not very good Progressive House.

Beatport seems to be trying to change its stupid genre tags. I’ve noticed a few weeks ago they’ve started grouping 10 Must Hear tracks differently so it doesn’t completely suck. The progressive page now has 2 charts per week, one is real prog, and is appropriately named 10 Must Hear Progressive House Tracks and the other is named Must Hear Club Hits. By hits, they’re obviously referring to anything related to the Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Tim Berg, Tiesto, Tim Berg, Deadmo-five, and Avicii. All they’re missing is Skrillex.

I usually call this Progressive Trance. As it’s clearly on the edge of both.
The base is progressive and has many commercial and trancey ellements in it.

up, it all tends to stick to the sidechain- compressed beats that DEADMAU5 once dictated for the genre. :disappointed:
