What midi keyboard do you have? why is it so good? Recomend me!!!

I will be investing in a midi keybord very soon, but i’ve just about gone nuts over which one i will chose, like ones with beatpads etc.

Cost over quality?.. or Quality over cost?

i’m tired of weighing up pros and cons over and over, so i thought i’d ask you lot here!

I’ve looked at the Novation Remote Sl, or perhaps M- Audio range..?

any advice greatly appreciated! tim

The only advie I can give you, because you mentioned beatpads: Stay away from the Korg MicroKontrol. The build quality is sub par - one rotary after another died on me after I got it.

i would say either novation or axiom or akia mpk series

yo

i think perhaps my best option at the mo would be the Novation remote sl compact 49, apparently their automap feature is really reliable. I will also be using Reason 4.0

still will keep my eyes peeled though

i do really feel like a little kid who wants a new toy lol

Novation Remote 25 SL

It fucking owns. I would buy it again without a single question. Has everything you want. Not to mention automap 2.0 which is freaking awesome.

Cheap: M-Audio Axiom
Pricey: Akai MPK49

I’ve never used a remote sl but the MPK49 was an awesome keyboard. Built really really sturdy but was heavy for a 49 key.

The Edirol PCR series has a buttons, knobs and faders and it even has a crossfader and is really inexpensive. My only complaint is the unreliable crossfader. Hope it helps

I got this:

I use it to control Traktor Pro and throw some notes in FL Studio. Very cheap and reliable.

My next toy will be the Novation ReMote 25 SL:

I love my Remote 25SL. I’d fully recommend it.

Also, if you want the pads, look at the Kontrol 49.

I’m always a Quality over cost. If you know what you want to get, then spend the money. If you’re still testing then buy cheaper stuff to get a feel for what you really want to invest in. The cheaper you buy, the sooner you’ll need to replace.

thanks all, just the answers i wanted to hear

basically confirmed my choice which will be a Novation Remote Compact SL, 25 or 49 key, i agree, quality is deffinitely better in the long run,

Man, i love the internet, what would i do without it?

Exercise.

haha

You know how hot it is over here in melb? was like 44degrees for 3 days straight

and i’ll probably get 2 weeks worth exercise when Proxy plays this weekend so there

yo

alrighty, narrowed my choice down to the

  • Novation Remote SL 25 (going for AU $620)

or the

  • Novation Remote Compact SL 25 (at AU$370)

is it realy worth the money to get the first one listed? like we’re talking in the long run etc?

put me out of my misery and force me to buy one of them lol

I really like my Remote SL 25. The host of controls really makes controlling software easier, and if you get into MIDI translation the joystick and touchpad can be used for some really wicked stuff.
