The only advie I can give you, because you mentioned beatpads: Stay away from the Korg MicroKontrol. The build quality is sub par - one rotary after another died on me after I got it.
i think perhaps my best option at the mo would be the Novation remote sl compact 49, apparently their automap feature is really reliable. I will also be using Reason 4.0
still will keep my eyes peeled though
i do really feel like a little kid who wants a new toy lol
I’ve never used a remote sl but the MPK49 was an awesome keyboard. Built really really sturdy but was heavy for a 49 key.
The Edirol PCR series has a buttons, knobs and faders and it even has a crossfader and is really inexpensive. My only complaint is the unreliable crossfader. Hope it helps
Also, if you want the pads, look at the Kontrol 49.
I’m always a Quality over cost. If you know what you want to get, then spend the money. If you’re still testing then buy cheaper stuff to get a feel for what you really want to invest in. The cheaper you buy, the sooner you’ll need to replace.
I really like my Remote SL 25. The host of controls really makes controlling software easier, and if you get into MIDI translation the joystick and touchpad can be used for some really wicked stuff.
