What replaces the Technic 1200s?

Just curious, on the market today what can be used to replace the 1200s for home use for scratching? I really thought about the numark ttx usb tt. Any sales rep or dj don’t seem to like numark. Someone recommended the audio technica lp240. I was scratching my head on that one. Also, as I learn the s4, would you recommend buyin an x1 and using that as backup if my s4 breaks or something? Then I just leave my tech 1200s at home?I thought about buying a used pmc 06 pro for home use with tts. Thanks for any help.

Denon DN-S3700 is what I’d go with. Not sure what’s wrong with Numark though, I like their stuff. Some DJ’s hate anything that doesn’t say Pioneer or Technics on it, that might be the attitude you’re getting. Damn fanboys.

The Stanton STR8-150 are very good tables and better than techs in a lot of places the problem is that 1200’s are iconic and the end all be all for turntables. Rightfully so but it’s hard to change people mind’s once a standard is in place for so long just look at MIDI.

I have a real nice 06 I can sell you if interested.

ITUNES hahaha

lol just get a decent stanton set like the t80’s or 90’s with an x1  they are cheap they sound pretty good and last long

str8-150’s.

Whats wrong with technics??

T.80s are GREAT for the price!
But I’d still get Technics.. I’ve never tried str8-150s BUT I’ve heard a lot of good things!

I’m hoping to be able to pick up some TTs soon.. I sold mine last week because I needed money, and now its time to start saving up again.
I’m gonna go with Technics over anything else because its what i know and what I trust.
I know the ins and out of them.. VERY easy to customize and repair!

str8-150’s for performance…and technics if you wanna practice on what you see in the clubs.

one of the fan boys mentioned earlier??

Thx for the opinions. I just wanted to see what else is out their. So guys in clubs what is the standard pioner setup? Its funny, I don’t know one dj locally who uses traktor.

standard is pioneer cdj 1000’s and a djm 800 anywhere I play

nah.. I’ll buy technics broken and fix them up.. ends up being A LOT cheaper than a pair of 150s…
and I’ve never actually used 150s before so it’d be silly for me to spend more money on something unsure than something I know and am comfortable with.

IF I got my hand on 150s and they were worth the extra money I would be more than happy to pick up a pair.
But.. I’m on a budget.. so I’ll go with what I know and can afford!

and I don’t scratch, I just prefer to mix and listen to tunes on vinyl
so I might even just pick up a pair of T.80s depending on my budget and what the market is like.

Pioneer, Technics, and Apple all are “Standard” with all the fanbois when other gear works just as good or sometimes better.

Take the DDM4000 for example, People were ALWAYS telling me to get Pioneer this, Pioneer that till I got here and anytime I asked other people how good the DDM4000 they told me it was utter shit due to the name alone (Behringer) same applies to the Numark NDX800 that I plan on getting.
The case of mac is that Windows based laptops can also work just as good, just a preference.

Im starting to think that people get sucked into the placebo effect that the more you spend the better the item is over all others. But thats also thanks to the advertising as well (Good job Apple)

In the end I would just lookaround for whats in your budget and look at reviews, youtube videos on the gear, and ask on here (Anywhere else will slam ya with Pioneer or gtfo before someone who wasnt guided by the sheepdog says otherwise)

JUST STAY AWAY FROM GEMINI >.> I read nothing but problems for the most part I even felt their gear in GC and feels extremely flimsy

sadness…

Str8-150’s, Numark TTX’s, Vestax PDX’s (which there was a set on here for sale a couple of days ago) The X1 is an excellent back up and there’s already four deck mappings out there.

In response to teabagged, Traktor s4 with traktor scratch upgrade for free, two technic 1200 mk2s, 2 m447 carts. For me happiness!

they are the “standard” for reasons.
reliability probably being the biggest factor.
all of the above make solid gear, and are known for it.

Like they dont have their flaws

Seen pioneers stop working for no reason before and Macs can get viruses and other shit.

anything electronic has the potential to fail period.

definitely!
I’m not saying they are perfect.
Just more reliable!

The reliable thing is a bit funny though in how that works.
Reliable since hundreds-thousands use the “reliable” gear while other gear could be just as reliable but they get tossed into the pile of unreliable before getting tested out just because a company had past mistakes.

Like I see people complain about a play pause button not working anymore when before they start slamming on them like a hammer and nail. (WELL NO SHIT IT BROKE!) Alot of people treat stuff they buy like shit which is why I treat bad reviews with a grain a salt.
