What is the main diference between a macbook and a macbook pro?
My plans when i get one is to use it only for traktor and the s4, and i saw some cheap used macbook from 2008 and 2009, tight budget, so have to wait for a brand new one. but will the mac book work good with the s4 or is the pro model a must for us dj’s?

the macbook (white plastic) has less ram and no firewire port or sd card slot…main differences that swayed me to the macbook pro
More power, that’s about it. S4 should run fine on a 2009 Macbook, actually I think someone was talking about just that the other day. Try searching.
I’m not using a Apple product but I’m running OSX on my T60. I can have it on the lowest possibly latency setting. (1-3 MS) and there is no crackling or popping. It’s a core2duo 2.0 GHZ, 2 gb ram lappy.
Think ill go for a used one macbook, not the pro, since its only going to be used with the s4, prob put in a ssd disk after a while and some extra memory.
but no older then 2009 mod?
For my S4 I have a late 2008 13 Macbook Aluminum and it’s the base model
2.0 C2D with 2 gig of Ram. I got it used to use soley for DJing.
Works with no issues at all with my S4.
the other good thing about macbook pro is the backlit keyboard which could be useful in a night club.
i have a 2009 white polycarbonate unibody macbook and the S4 runs perfect. I do regret not getting the Pro for firewire though.
