what will be hot, music wise in 2011

Any ideas on what you think, or hope that will be hot in 2011 music wise, underground, mainstream, the influence of your country.

And what do you think will fade to the background?

I hope the influence of disco, funk and soul will be more upcoming as well in the edm genres.

Dupstepp will probably win more popularity.

Caribbean and latin styles will be more popular.

I think electro house will be going more to the background.

I could see dubstep coming more in mainstream to an extent in 2011.

definitely. This is the main genre that has converted a lot of people I know into EDM.

I hope good electro-house and indie gets a lot better and mainstream

the tech house mayhem will go on and dubstep will get more and more mainstream.

Dubstep is mainstream… I prefer calling what is actually good music downtempo… but the tunes that are just wobble bass cumshot compilations will burn out the whole word dubstep which is unfair to the deeper darker less obvious sub genres that are really brilliant amazing downtempo bass music.
I guess the only thing 2011 can really offer at this point is a hyperspeed commercialization of dubstep which all the dnb artists will recoin drumstep. So now we will get the good heavy technical versions of drumpstep/dnb.

I personally would like to see a hardcore revival… like psygabbastep and turn it into a whiteman crunk raver punk scene

I like different genres in different situations. Dubstep when I’m drunk, house/techno etc. in the club, rap hip hop when I’m bumpin down the block in my Buick :stuck_out_tongue:. Perhaps it just a matter of what people do. If the club scene instantly dies then you could imagine house music would take a big hit.

There is one aspect of the Rap/Hiphop genre I wish would die. That stupid ass, swagger dance crap. “Now to left, now to right. . . think about it. Back on time” haha

Is this the same style as the OTTOMAN HUMPERS?

the second video .. is that a parody or is he for real?

Thanks for the warning Frogstar, I didn’t know what the ottoman humpers were. . . wow . Parody? shrugs Its kinda like when you see someone about to bust their ass. Instead of saying anything you sit back and watch. Youtube 50 Tyson if you haven’t, you’ll get a good laugh.

You know, I try to live my life and not be exposed to soulja boy, and now you’ve done it. I feel like this year house was very mainstream in a lot of ways, so I don’t see that going away, but I feel like there will be more of a dubstep influence on it, sort of like what deadmau5 has been doing. Why? I don’t know, it just feels right. There’s stuff I like about dubstep, but it always feels to slow for my regular set. I feel there will be more clubby songs that have that influence (and then it will go mainstream with the Black Eyed Peas and we’ll talk about the good old days).

I just feel like there will be heavy influences anyway with how big of a splash dubstep’s made in the consciousness of people like us, I just don’t know if the genre itself will be so big.

All that post-dubstep will continue to be interesting.

I forecast that 80s revival which has been going on for ages (basically, all through the 00s) is finally gonna come to an end. At least I’m hoping for the end of the early 80s/disco/post-punk/etc. stuff.

A revival of ca. 1994ish house would be cool. I’m thinking about these 90s-style synths and basslines.

In the UK this seems to be happening at the moment, for here you have people like The Drums in the post punk indie type thing happening, Aeroplane and the guy who split from Aeroplane, The Magician killing the Nu Disco vibe which I love, it is all starting to wind down now. People like Wolf and Lamb going on the further evolution of that with the 80’s electro disco (ie prince type dubs and remixes). Soundcloud seems to be a wash with Nu Disco at the moment. I do love it but everyone seems to get a few old disco reworks and the odd bit of ambient electro and calls it a Nu disco mix, not for me!! I want a bit more thought in it.

I still think we will see a down tempo/ chilled beats revival in 2011. Things like Massive Attack, Portishead, early Ninja Tune stuff but obviously with new edges to it all. There’s already good grumblings from that scene and I think some interesting downtempo mixes heading for the summer would be good?

Dubstep, or at least that whole wobbly bass sound, is on it’s way out.

word.

I’ve never heard it played at any big clubs in Miami.

Dubstep is the biggest fad around. I personally did not like any dubstep song I have ever heard. A wobbly bassline is just that. Its not dancable and its not easy listening.

I’ve not seen any mention of Breakbeat anywhere !

About time the underground movement started to destroy the Dubstep kids…

Ahhh why does everyone love Dubstep so much, its so lame. Everytime i’ve thrown down some dubstep tunes after being asked for them for HOURS the dance floor CLEARS as NO ONE can dance to it!
Whats the point unless your playing at a Dubstep night to a load of K heds !

Yay FUN…

Definitely dubstep.
Maybe Slow Dubstep, massive wobble dubstep. Garage dubstep. House dubstep. Pop Dubstep. Screamo dubstep. Miley Dubstep. Gaga might even make some wobbbbblez JK. Dubstep is definitely becoming hot like pancakes i make every Saturday morning

liquid dnb and breaks are totally coming back…

i wish :disappointed:

uk dubstep next year will be huge

radio one has there fist well and truley up its arse.
(and anything raido one gets hold of gets milked like an obese cow)

so expect more “soft” stuff like this to hit the charts

I’d just like to hear trends towards music with more “soul” in it. Breaks, Breakbeat, House adn Indie …all with a studio feel would be fantastic. Moar vocals melodies and honest lyrics less get my drink on, rollin’ on chrome platitudes.
