Some kid posts a thread about a decent gig he’s played recently and the first page of comments is full of knob heads with post counts in the 50’s and 60’s taking the piss and posting shit that is full of negativity!
But this isnt the first time. It’s actually becoming a regular thing on here.
When did this community attract such useless pond life?!
We seem to have had a lot of newcomers lately which is great for the site but some seem to have brought a YouTube comments mentality with them which is really sad to see.
This may all just be the ramblings of someone nursing a hangover or I may have a point. Just thought I’d put it out there.
I’ll take your word then cause I never saw it. If thats the case, then yea I agree…no need for any of that. I havent seen enough of it to for me to consider it a huge problem yet, but it doesnt make it right either. Just the other day someone hi-jacked someones thread to argue about what kind of washing machine was in the background of a pic that the OP had posted
I didn’t mean too come off that way guys..i’m not a regular on posting on forums, so like..maybe i just typed what i meant too say the wrong way. Did not mean too come off as a total prick.
if you bump into any of these mishaps, just press on the topic report button and say what’s going on. We, the mod crew, will look into it and take appropriate action.
I think is normal, if now in the forum there is a lot of people, it’s mathematical that some of them will behave this way, we can’t be 100% nice.
Time ago it was nicer but only because there was “only” the same great few people posting and talking
But I prefer now, big community!! (Y)
Yeah, definitely disappointing to see things like this happening on the forum. I remember this used to be a pretty welcoming and happy place, not that it isn’t anymore. Hopefully the newcomers learn pretty quickly that this isn’t the place for that kind of negativity.
To be honest, when reading this forum I’m not exactly waiting for 4359832465345324 topics about “hey I did gig X and it was AWESUM!!!1111” Just make one topic for it named “(Recent) gig experiences” and the forum stays much cleaner that way.
Just looking at this forum, sooo many kind of not really interesting new topics popping up everyday (“hey I got problem X”, “which X should I buy”, “look what happened to me”, hey I did gig X and it was AWESUM!!!1111" etc. etc.) could be prevented by just making some extra stickies for them. They really clog up the forum and quickly push out the topics which actually are interesting to read.
I’d say that the forum is growing and getting a bit more “cultured” and similar to real life. There is people who have different personalities, and part of growing as a person is learning how to deal with it/them. It’s also a parallel to working within DJ culture. I would think that everyone here has the eventual goal of getting more gigs, and playing larger venues. Dealing with negativity in a professional way is a big part of that. I think rather than relying on mods to punish people for being negative, douchey, and “mean”, I’d say everyone is better served to learn how to deal with them properly… Don’t respond to negativity. We as a community will learn a lot more by dealing with adversity and diversity head on rather than having someone else just sweep it under the rug so you don’t have to deal with it.
I have to add… telling mods to handle the drama is basically saying “I don’t hate drama enough to ignore it, but don’t like it enough to contribute, so can you get rid of it since I’m not mature enough to do one or the other?” I’ve never understood what’s so hard about ignoring shit you just aren’t interested in. It’s one of the most prominent phenomenons on internet forums.
Coming from the mentality of a new forumer with a low post count I completely agree with Kooper. I’ve been viewing this forum for the past year and didn’t really decide to start posting until recently. One of the attractions to this forum was the ability to post just about anything and get a decent response. Of course there are going to be duplicate posts but even the moderators and most members are cordial enough to direct posters to previous threads. This the type of mentality that caused me a join.
I’m new DJing coming from a background of drumming for the past 15 years, but that doesn’t mean I’m an idiot. When kids post hate, and do mean kids because it’s not how old they are it’s their maturity level, it detracts from the environment and may keep posters from follow up questions, ruining the whole point of posts and the forum.
I’m thankful that the vast majority of this forum is proper folks who really take the time to help. I suppose a previous poster is right kids will be kids, but douches should be thrown away.
