who can answer this routing question

so i was watching this video of DJ Braces 2016 DMC set, and I am wondering how he has this routed so that he can control the right hand turntable, with both his main mixer and his fretless fader at the same time, both seeming to send/receive DVS signal to/from the table.

he does it again here with a totally different set up, if you look closely you can see both tables plugged into the main mixer…

so confused as to how he is doing it…the signal from the (right)table has to be received into the fretless mixer for the crossfader on the fretless mixer to cut in and out, but it also must be passing through the main mixer to be utilizing DVS, and he can still cut in and out with the fader on his main mixer…is he simply splitting the RCAs from the table between the mixers? is that possible..

head is spinning trying to figure it out.

I can’t see the vids here at work - but it sounds like he might be using RCA splitters (or stacking RCA’s).

Or - is he just chaining the MAIN output of the fretless mixer to an audio channel on the other mixer? That way, he can use the fretless fader to play, then just leave that fader open and scratch on the other mixer as well?

Or - vice versa. Main mixers (if it is a DVS enabled mixer?) MAIN output chained to a channel on the fretless fader mixer.

My money is on the chaining of mixers somehow…

I’ll watch the vids later and get back to you.

ok so i am using a dvs enabled mixer. by plugging the decks both into the main mixer, and then running the main out from the main mixer into a channel on the fretless mixer, i am able to cut in and out on the right hand table from either mixer HOWEVER cutting in and out on the fretless , cuts in and out on BOTH channels from my main mixer, ie it cuts the scratch tone, AND the beat from the other deck, in and out.

running the table into a channel on the fretless mixer , then from the master out of the fretless into a channel on the main mixer, does not pass the DVS signal along, and does nothing.

Which DVS mixer are you using? Does it have 4 channels and assignable cross fader?

yah im using a s8 atm.

i also have a 8 channel mackie mixer, and i tried running a separate line from the booth out to its own channel to try to go around fretless mixer, so that one channel is always playing the track, but then of course , you cant hear the clicks from the fretless being made since that channel is being also pumped out to the speakers and bypassing the fretless mixer…for days now ive been trying to figure out how hes doing it, and every time im like.. " wait, what if i…then…and then…YES!!!..nevermind that doesnt work."

I think he is using the send return on the main mixer to chain the fretless.

Can you route the output from the right deck (in Traktor) to the headphone out on the S8? Then route that to the fret less mixer? I think you probably will need s 3rd mixer to combine the output from the S8 and the fret less mixer…

This means the S8 will control the the right deck, then the right decks output will go from the headphone out of the S8, into the line in on the fret less, then from the fret less master out to s 3rd mixer to be combined with the S8 master (which will only be the left deck, or deck a, c & d if you’re4 deck mixing…

Goddamn I think you’re right! In-line additional cross faders!!! Fucking genius!!! You could have group routines with one guy moving the record, and 2, 3, 4, however many DJs making the fader clicks.

Do you think you could hear the individual sounds of an 8-finger crab scratch?

Have no idea, not really into scratching.

im going to have to try patches work around at the moment, since the s8 has no send and return. ill let ya know if it works.

so your idea kinda worked Patch, if i set the headphone to monitor the deck and turn the channel volume down, i can use the fretless fader , and then turn off the headphone monitor and close the fretless fader and turn up volume i can cut with the s8. its kinda hokey, and also the sound quality is getting pretty messed up, but it is technically working!

Great news.
