Whut? VFX-1 & Scratch Live?

I caved in and bought a VFX-1 for my VCI-300/Itch kit for portable gigs. The guy at the shop said something about the VFX working with Serato Scratch Live, but he didn’t seem to know what he was talking about.

I brought the unit home, tried it out on my VCI-300, then on a whim, decided to see if SSL would detect signals from the VFX-1. Well, SSL reads input from the buttons and the large silver FX knobs, but not the smaller black knobs.

I’d love to be able to use this unit with both programs, so maybe I can get by assigning some basic Scratch Live commands to the VFX for now. If anyone out there finds a way to get Scratch Live to read input from the black knobs too, this could make the VFX-1 a valuable tool for a lot more people, not just Itch users.

Hmm wonder if they will add proper support for it in SSL 2.0?

I wouldn’t count on it, but it would be cool if they did. The potential is there.

I tried to do this as well. It looks like the message from the VFX1 is Note on/off for that encoder and I think SL is limited to continuous controller messages.

I am not 100%. some one else may be able to help verify…?

my bad. I can use Note On/off with cue point triggers and other type in SL. SL does see Note On/Off for some of the mapping. You can map the small encoder to cue trigger, however I don’t see why that would be useful. I would imagine the FX with allow this.
