Why is the VMS4 the unpopular kid on the playground?

So I’ve been looking into investing in a 4 channel midi controller for a while now, and there are three main competitors;

AA VMS4 - £400
Denon dn-mc6000 - £680
Traktor S4 - £750

The AA is almost half the price of the Traktor (I already have Scratch Pro, so software cost isn’t an issue) and a hell of a lot cheaper than the Denon. The build quality seems to be good, and there are lots of knobs and buttons (which i really like).

Yet, whenever anyone discusses 4 channel controllers, the VMS4 gets left out. With a load of new contenders being released all the time the price is sure to go down, and im left wondering if im missing something, why SHOULDN’T i go for the VMS4?

the build quality ain’t good and it’s soundcard is rubbish. jogs nor pitchfader ain’t really precise either. you get what you pay for

I’m pretty sure it’s midi while the s4 is HID. Maybe. I’m not really sure, I don’t pay much attention to these all in one controllers. If that is the case it means the pitch faders ain’t really accurate enough to beat match manually.

Those buttons look pretty naff and the effects section doesn’t look ideal for use with traktor.

14 bit midi, if im correct

I have VMS4 and everything is nice, instead of knobs quality.
Layout is great too, and about jogs - i you want scratching go for vinyl :wink:

vms4 was my pick since it has everything a digital dj need + 2 (if i recall) analogue channel inputs and it does not get power from a usb so if it ever fails u can still run a cdj turntable etc. it was perfect until people started complaining about sound quality build and midi issues/errors and it comes with a lite version of virtual dj

then came traktor s4 which is IMHO is the best all in one midi controller so far
build/sound quality is perfect full integration with traktor s4 software which is another level in dj software i received mine 2 days ago and am really happy with it i would recommend getting one
and like i always do google cons of “whatever you are buying” before making a decision instead of reading reviews and the shiny side of things :stuck_out_tongue:
