We have a strict don’t ask, don’t tell policy at my house. She know’s it’s not cheap, but she also knows she doesn’t want to know exactly how much it cost.
wow that’s some high VAT you guys have over there.
I’ll keep my mouth shut about American prices, but I just ordered mine off Amazon as well, going to retire my VCI-100 and just gig with Live now.
I just cant wrap my head around mixing in ableton. It requires so much preparation and it kind of takes away from the ‘on the fly’ thing. Or maybe i’ve been completly doing it wrong since the beginning. The effects are awesome tho!.
I wish there was a way to route traktor audio into ableton. I tried with some tutorials but they are all outdated and really feel like complete hack jobs..
I still love the VCI-100 and will still use it. I will use all my gear in bits or all together…anyways..
Its TIT!
I used Detoxx’s Traktor Mapping and jammed a few times this weekend. Its sick!
Loving the short faders.
I am thinking that i need to build myself a mapping using the VCI and APC40 together.
APC for playing as per usual and then the VCI for FX. Will create a map that uses all the faders and shit for FX sets. Think that’s an AWESOME idea.
I like the X Fader more on the APC40 more than the VCI’s for scratching (Cutting).
The first day i had the APC…i was second guessing my decision to get it.
Was thinking that if someone offered me a 4 channel mixer that was decent…i would swap.
Not anymore!!!
It IS a 4 channel mixer and more!
I then went to my mate who plays Dubstep in Ableton…and he is pretty good…just with the mouse!
So i connected up for him and he opened one of his sets…and POW!
We were rocking!
I played Dubstep for the first time in Ableton with him…and MUCH to my surprise…i seriously enjoyed it!
I was always saying it was too slow for me etc…but i think differently now!
I then went home and dumped a bunch of Electro tracks in Ableton on my lappy and within a couple minutes…i was jamming away in Live!!
Just testing the waters with this: I run a hybrid Traktor/Ableton rig with an APC40 and VCI-100. The template was built to maintain the Live handshake (two-way communication, instant updating, and all that), while retaining full control over 4 decks in Traktor. The switch between the Live surface and the Traktor surface is a simple shift-press. The two are synced, and in total you get 4 Traktor decks and 4 Live channels - Limited on purpose.
BUT - the template requires Bomes MT and a Mac. (there’s a number of “send monitor state” commands, so PCs get the distortion issue.
I’m throwing it out there in case anyone runs or is interested in running this type of set-up. I’ve only given it to a few people privately for testing, but I’d like to see what kind of general interest there might be. Also the VCI portion can be turned off with a click, in case you’re not using one.
I’m a bug-squashing fiend, so this thing is running rock solid right now, but it’s also kind of overkill, not for everyone. Let me know!
Yeah dude, lol - I have a pro x in my vci! Unfortunately Bento’s smartmixer is only applicable to two channels, and this thing is running eight. I know he had plans to construct something that could work on more than two channels, but after getting M4L that might’ve gotten put on hold. But with mine at least you’ve got eq control on all 4 tractor decks, and could add eq to the other 4 live channels and operate via the device control section.
id like to. im running a simmilar set up (spin/x1 for traktor and apc 40 for live but instead of 4 decks id rather just have the two in traktor and use ableton for sampling/juggling/remixing on the fly ect.
dood im with ya, but i got the mother and the girl bitchin about the money i spend on my mistress (DJING!!!) so i always hide recipts and shit. yet they always tell me i need to get more gigs so i can buy shit for them (more my girlfriend).
I got a wicked deal too. Guitar Center had been sold out for a while, but had a model on display that was collecting dust and no one used, so i got a discount on teh floor model (wasnt a demo – paid almost half price, dood kept trying to get me to settle for the apc 20, but damn i needed new dials and lightsslight_smile: with the 2 yr protection plan, brought it home and its worked fine, but i brought it back the other day when they got a new shipment and got a brand new one outta the box no questions asked.
