Xone DB4!

Xone DB4!

finally arrived in BKK after being stuck in paris for the past 4 days.

just finished a new traktor map and ready for our gig with montonn jira and joni anwar tonight. it came as a surprise that i was able to map all the main functions i use from my 4D/1D+2D tsi’s to the 6 buttons in the fx section and the rotary encoder. all the led’s are midi mappable too, so feedback of different states is very easy.

the addition of ms delay mode is incredible, kill send is now a mode option, fx are way beyond everything else. audio demos and templates coming soon!

amazing!

this is what came to mind

nice man.
I’m gonna buy one next year when I get back home. Are the knobs pretty smooth and solid? I always thought the EQ knobs on my 92 felt a tad shakey.

nice pictures, that thing does look very good.

Nice looking piece of kit, but what happened to the crossfader in the first shot?

WOW! Just wow!

Hoping I strike it big, or receive a jackpot once in my live!

probably taken off so you can see the name

awesome! I have mine on preorder for a month now! time to toss the xone 92

the x-fader is being removed… not really my thing. the knobs are great and the back light on the eq section is a nice feature. the big dry/wet rotary is totally crazy, and the rest you’ll find a familiar feeling if you’re a d-series user.

much to my surprise, it’s incredibly functional as an all in one solution for controlling traktor. by using a few modifiers to create two layers, i’ve got the basic transport, prev/next cue, and loop functions on the first layer in midi shift mode, then created a second layer that offers sync, pitch bend, move modes <>, and master tempo adjustment. led feedback on the fx type buttons is also mappable, so it’s easy to establish a different visual state for the layers.

it performed flawlessly on our gig last night for both control and mixing duties; i ran strictly in the domain of the db4, while montonn and joni had a second traktor setup paired with a 1D+2D, and a machine drum. we didn’t sync through midi, just pitched the machines up and down…

it was a scenario where the matrix inputs came in very handy. we could switch between all the different inputs and be on which ever physical faders we wanted to be. kind of obvious but very relevant and functional in context.

Mixer manufacturers MUST STOP putting buttons next to the cross fader! No point of a cross fader that you can’t use. I know a lot of DJ’s scratch with their wrist, but I use my fingers, and tend to rest a couple of fingers ON the mixer next to the cross fader while I scratch.

here’s an update to the tsi that fixes a minor bit:

and if you’d just like to take a look at the template as a pdf, here it is:

interestingly enough if you set an input to analog or digital, engage bit bash as your effect, it will generate a bunch of noise when no signal is present. you can then switch the eq to dual filter mode and shape the noise into an hf blast or sweep the low pass with max resonance into some crazy rumbles… there are a few variations on tonality to the noise relative to the input on the analogue side, and digital gain can create some unpredictable artifacts.

Jeeeeeeeez that is insane

Daaaaannnnnggggg!

u selling ur 92?

WoW!

Now I agree

Can’t wait to put my hands on one !

nice mixer would to get my paws on one, chain it to the booth!!!JK
