Bodega Brad - Well, my name is Brad and I used to live above a Bodega and I’m always in one gettin a beer or sandwich. When I first moved to NY and the fellas from the radio station would come pick me up…the directions for them would always end with…“above the bodega”. After a while, they all started calling me Bodega Brad…so for my first radio promotion on-air call in, I used it as my moniker, and it stuck. Plus, the name Bodega and Brad pretty much shouldn’t be together. It doesn’t fit…but on purpose. ![]()
jsut started a group with a couple of beginner djs, we’re called early mixologists, because we’re beginners and we mix music.
my solo dj name is BMO, too lazy for a name, so when in doubt just use your initials, plus it’s a hell of a lot better than BO LOL geez that BO guy really stinks ![]()
@ Brad 10 years ago my name would have been “semi detached sesspit hellhole andersen” using your technique ![]()
lol. Come on man, the hooks write themselves.
“Your in my armpit, with DJ BO.”
“Your getting stinky…”
you get the point. ![]()
Lmao
kinda just rolls off the tongue, dontcha think ![]()
first name is jon, last name is diaz, my first name is super common so since high school i have been known as diaz, which is also damn common in the states: in a sum always mulled on how my name is common. diaz sounds the same as diez, ten in spanish; being tall due to being half german ive always been called a giant by alot of my friends.
easy peasy simple as that
Surname is lunt, so xolunt is the name I have used on various forums, however its not my intended DJ name.
My nickname in Indonesia is Ju or Juju as my first name is Julian.
I was thinking about DJ Juju, or Jukai which includes my sons name. However just recently I was reading an Indonesian book which describes a character from Hindu culture called Arjuna. In short he is a historical / mythical figure, his name basically means warrior lover… Guy was a master archer and had 41 wives..guys a legend really.
Anyway, The name is intended as a joke, because in Indonesia often mothers will worry for their daughters that have a crush an a boy. They can be heard to warn their daughters to “ don’t take that Arjuna seriously, yesterday I saw him with another girl”.
Such is also my reputation were I live, so hey If the shoes fits, I say were it!
Im thinking on spelling it DJ ArJUna, as it also makes reference to my nickname JU.
Ill be home in a few days and ill run it past my best mate who is Balinese to make sure that it will be perceived as i intend it… just a lighthearted joke… I don’t want people to think im seriously referring to myself as a god, it might invoke an expectation of skills DJ wise that I couldn’t fulfill at this point in time.. however id be willing to give the lover connotation a shot![]()
runescape. damn. that’s probably the best one on here.
@ jester - i think Mr. Andersen would be awesome.
tell me that won’t get you laid
Psychofrakulator was taken from the movie “Mystery Men”*. I took it for several reasons.
- I love to go with obscure movie- and/or cartoon references. (Other names I considered were “Jeff Albertson” and “DJ Drakken”)
- It has “Psycho” in it and since many people think I’m a little bit crazy, it’s pretty fitting
- It’s very easy to remember, because it’s so complicated. (“Oh look, that Psychofalalarak guy** is there. I remember him!”)
And as a bonus:
- The soundclip from “Mystery Men”, in which Tom Waits explains what a Psychofrakulator does, works very good as an intro.
Not sure if you know it. It’s a hilarious superhero comedy with Ben Stiller, William H. Macy, Geoffrey Rush, Janeane Garofalo, Tom Waits, Lena Olin, Greg Kinnear, Wes Studi, Claire Forlani, Eddie Izzard and Paul Reubens, that became one of the biggest box office bombs ever.
**Another DJ once wouldn’t stop calling me "Psychofcker", but only because he thought that’s what I call myself. ![]()
you also could have chosen dj spleen…mwah ![]()
Yeah, I could even build a spectacular pyroshow around my name then ![]()

- Yes to mystery men, William H macy is a legend, and Ben stillers Mr furious, as I recall was hilarious…
But what really got me all excited was your refernce to Tom Waits… I f%&*%^kin love Tom waits… Got most of his Back Catolouge… I saw a guy wearing a shirt that had the cover from “the heart of saturday night” on the front… fuck yeh pussy hair…
Ive been meaning to try and mix some Tom waits samples into a mix somewhere… His lyrics a re genious…
I was in Japan the other week and I was strolling down the road listening to “im big in japan”
Sorry for going OT, but I love to listen to songs in my collection that are pertanant to where i am at that time… eg.. I was just in new orleans the other day and i had to listen to house of the rising son… Eric burdon and the sound animals…
Fyoog is Fugue spelt phonetically.
For those that don’t know what that is, definition below:
“A musical movement in which a definite number of parts or voices combine in stating or developing a single theme, the interest being cumulative.”
Thought it fitted quite well with a DJ Set, but then happened upon another meaning the other day:
“fugue, psychogenic fugue (dissociative disorder in which a person forgets who they are and leaves home to creates a new life; during the fugue there is no memory of the former life; after recovering there is no memory for events during the dissociative state)
S: (n) fugue (a dreamlike state of altered consciousness that may last for hours or days)”
Also fairly fitting of my normal nights out clubbing?!? ![]()
I love it. Best name ever seriously
my boy and i are thinking of teaming up.. Coco & Loca he’s spanish so brown like coco puffs and im a bit crazy
Might I be so rude as to suggest dropping the “&”?
CocaLoca sounds more memorable to me. ![]()
Let the audience figure out it’s two people, e.g. Massive Attack, Justice, etc.
Happy Easter TT’s.
don’t ask me, but i was thinking of an artist name to boost my career as a supa dupa DJ, and “Dr. Digit” came to my mind, as my setup is digital… fancy story, huh?
think it’s quite memorable, but I guess no one knows it so far… have to work on it!
i took up djing when i was trying to give up smoking and using the money i saved to buy gear and traktor and i was messing about with some pictures i took on photoshop and i made this picture and the name just stuck in my head so i started using it, its kinda of apt cause i was on a strike for smoking the herb!
Took mine from a Radiohead song called I am Citizen Insane, mainly because Radiohead is (and likely always will be) my favourite band, no matter what I always come back to their music and enjoy it… alas I have yet to mix Radiohead with some Drum & Bass and have it work nicely lol.
Also, Fyoog, that’s a pretty cool meaning to yours.
tekki:
Japanese for Iron fist, iron knight, iron horse, iron foe.
Also big martial arts fan, a few of my favourite Kyokushin (karaté) katas were called ‘tekki naihanchin’ and ‘tekki sanchin’.
Also my habit of digging all things techy (technical) and ability to dive into things as a kamikazi made it clear: “tekki it is!”
(Though I dropped in a wushu student in my logo)
